Bulk delivery status change?

Mistakes were made, and for while every single outbound email bounced. I've fixed the mistakes, but now in my largest and most active email list, every single user's delivery status is "Disabled by Bounces". Is there a way to bulk fix this? Or do I have to go into each user, one at a time, and fix them? Thanks! -- Steve

Create an eml command in a plugin

I try to create an EML command to allow moderators to accept a subscription request made by an address. I created this command in CLI first, to test if it works, and it works well except to send the welcome message. After that, I tried to create the EML command in my plugin, and when I'm testing this command, nothing happens. Also, when using the command EML help, my command is not shown on the email sent. Maybe I missed something to add in the configurations files. Should I add some configuration files for this command ? Members (and moderators) can't view the list of members.

I installed Mailman 3 almost 2 years ago. I only now noticed that members of a mailing list can't view the list of members. Even moderators can't see the list. Only Owners. The error message is "You do not have permissions to visit this page." Mailman Core Version GNU Mailman 3.3.8 (Tom Sawyer) Mailman Core API Version 3.1 Mailman Core Python Version 3.10.12 (main, Jun 11 2023, 05:26:28) [GCC 11.4.0] Postorius Version 1.3.8 Any ideas? I did make a few "minor" changes to the code, but hopefully it didn't cause this problem. What file(s) contains the code that checks for permissions? Or maybe there is a config file? I also notice by default, for all users, in their "Global Mailman Preferences", the default setting for "Hide Address" is "Yes". How can I change that to be "No". And can I reset that setting for all my present users? Thanks. - Mark

How to keep virtualenv install secure?

Hi, I am looking for some advice: If we use the virtualenv install method, how does one keep track of security updates for all the installed dependencies? I can think of: - Upgrade regularly all installed packages inside the virtualenv. This might break mailman3 if there are incompatible updates. - Try to track all dependencies and check if there are security updates published. This might be impossible to achieve. - Security updates are so rare, we do not need to bother. ;) Thanks, Bernhard

Abusive user creation - ideas for mitigating

Hi, My mailman3.auth_users table contains 131 rows, of which 113 of them were created in the last week. All of these users have a 10 character long random string of lowercase letters as their chosen username. Their email addresses are all over the place. I only noticed this was happening because an unusual number of the subscription confirmation messages were bouncing back to me as postmaster, and I saw the unlikely user names. I matched up some of the date_joined timings with logs of HTTP POST to /mailman/accounts/signup and every single one so far was a unique IP address. So I am not going to get very far with firewalling. Does anyone have any suggestions what I can do to avoid this? Specifically what I would like to avoid is sending a confirmation email to these potentially innocent addresses. … Hmm, actually I've just noticed that all of them are Tor exit nodes. Looks like I could probably autogenerate an Apache ACL that lists all Tor exit nodes and bans them from posting to /mailman/accounts/signup. Thanks, Andy

Where to find disabled members?

Now that I have mailman running smoothly, I'm having to deal with a few other issues. When I changed vendors for my vps, my vendor gave me a static IP address that was apparently run by Satan himself. The ip address is -- or was -- on a number of blacklists. I have spent the past couple of weeks going through various appeals processes to get whitelisted, and I think I'm in good shape. In the meantime, a fair number of subscribers have been disabled. When I look at Postorius -> Settings -> Bounce processing, I see all of the policies I can play with, but I don't see how to a) See who is disabled, and b) un-disable them by hand or... do I just have to wait seven days for them to automatically get un-disabled? member appears twice in list - how?

I've got a list member showing up twice in a list (same email address). Can't use the GUI to remove the member from this list (get a 503 error) Screenshots attached, underlying database query reveals no duplicates. Wondering how this is possible or where else I should be looking to resolve this duplicate before I simply remove their entry from the members table altogether. "held for moderation" - alias domain details sought

Hi friends. I've viewed this old thread: https://lists.mailman3.org/archives/list/mailman-users@mailman3.org/thread/… and documentation here: https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/docs/mta.h… (and the Postfix docs it links to). Those documents don't seem to guide my situation, or maybe I just need a more specific example. The problem is that when messages are delivered to the alias domain, they are held for moderation. I.e., mail to the alias domain like testlist(a)domain.tld is held for moderation, but mail from the same subscribed, non-moderated user to testlist(a)lists.domain.tld is posted immediately without moderation. I wonder whether my main domain needs to be @domain.tld and my alias domain needs to be @lists.domain.tld - is that what I should try? Or, am I not setting up the alias domain correctly? Details: I'm writing to ask for advice so that mailman messages to address(a)domain.tld can also be sent to address(a)lists.domain.tld. There are various other non-Mailman addresses (local Unix accounts and aliases) handled by @domain.tld as well as @otherdomain.tld on the same server. I have a running 3.3.10 server (venv, using Postfix and PostgreSQL under Ubuntu 24.04LTS). The configured domain is of the form: lists.domain.tld and it's working ok. The dread "relay access denied" error

I've been trying to avoid asking this question since "relay access denied" problems are usually pretty silly configuration errors that I should pick up. But I've been staring at this for three days and I'm stumped. Once again here's the scenario. I set up mailman3 on Ubuntu 24.04 and it's running without a hitch, particularly now that I added the appropriate archival commands. I decided to create a backup on an older server of mine running Ubuntu 22.04. The setup is almost identical except for domain names. Unfortunately, in the second setup, I'm getting "relay access denied" to senders/recipients outside the host domain. Things go fine to list members on the local machine. How to fix: [Django] ERROR (EXTERNAL IP)

This feels like something that I should have working. I know I've not been attending to things all that well, so the thing that has happened, that's got us from, "possibly doing nothing," to throwing this error is that I went to update my mail server, and in the update, Mailman3 stopped working entirely (it was a variety of things), but now it's launching, and will load the main web interface... but Going to any of the list pages, gives the above Error. Well, not exactly the above error, Django is in square brackets. OK, that will work better for me with the how to fix. How to fix, probably isn't quite what I'm looking for, it's how to diagnose. The error tells me that the IP address is 127.0.0.1 and that 127.0.0.1 is in the ALLOWED_HOSTS. I *mostly* see this coming from Google, but when I go and look at the webpage, I get: normal page at /mailman3/lists/ But my lists, all give me... Something went wrong HTTP error 500: {"title": "500 Internal Server Error"} I've tried to figure out where to go from here, and right now I'm not making any progress, so I thought I'd ask here.

Do i need a mailman-hyperkitty.cfg file?

While trying to set up my new mailman installation in Ubuntu 22.04, which doesn't quite work yet, I decided to compare my config files with my Ubuntu 24.04 LTS installation, which does seem to work to the degree I've tested it. I noticed this little snippet in the settings.py file: # Set this to match the api_key setting in # /opt/mailman/mm/mailman-hyperkitty.cfg (quoted here, not there). MAILMAN_ARCHIVER_KEY = 'Secret_Hyperkitty_API_Key' Aha, I thought. I should have changed that. Then I noticed that I didn't even have a mailman-hyperkitty.cfg file, and I can't find mention of it in the venv instructions. I *have* installed mailman- hyperkitty during the "pip install mailman-web mailman-hyperkitty" step. I did a "find" on /opt/mailman, and it doesn't seem the file is there at all. Do I need this file? Welcome message issue

Good afternoon I have an issue with welcome message. A list owner is requesting to update the welcome message for only one of their lists. They are requesting to change the default text and insert additional URLs pointing to sites related to their list. I know there is a URI field that you may include a web page. But this doesn't work and gets ignored. - is there a mailman cli option to update the default template for a single list? I couldn't find it in WUI. I reviewed all parameters and variables of the list and couldn't find one that might be related to it. We are running an old version of Mailman 3. Thanks Mohsen

My Ubuntu 24.04 installation is working great, and I have a list running perfectly. I'm now trying to install mailman3 on an older server, this time runing ubuntu 22.04. I'm following the venv installation instructions again, but suddenly came up with a new error. Hi, I am running a mailman 3.3.9 server (pip installation). It's working fine so far. However, I have problems setting a template. I set a '[list:user:action:subscribe]' template for a list with some simple text like "test1234". When someone wants to subscribe on the list page without creating an account, it takes five seconds until "HTTPSConnectionPool(host='lists.example.org', port=443): Read timed out. User account issue after importing data from Mailman 2.x server

We finally migrated from Mailman 2.x to a Mailman 3.x several months ago. We have had some issues with people who are active list members not being able to login with their user creds and when trying to use the 'Forgot Password' link to reset, being told their user account does not exist. They can submit email to the list and get copied on other list traffic. I just started looking at a user and a list in both the Postorius and Django admin web UIs and found: - in Postorius: - list exists, has 20K plus subscribed members and has 3 list owners - user exists and is subscribed to this list - in Django: - in HyperKitty section - in the Mailing lists page, the list exists, no idea about members BUT it has 147 owners (also the same 147 moderators) - in the Emails page, there are 149K plus entries - in the Profiles page, there are 147 entries - in the Accounts->Email addresses page, there are only 155 entries - in the AUTHENTICATION AND AUTHORIZATION->Users page, there are 147 entries Should Mailman 3.x have created user accounts for everyone when importing the data from the old server? To correct the issue on a case by case basis, can I as a server admin do something via the web UI or CLI or do we need to remove the email address from the list and ask the person to create a new account using that address and to resubscribe to the specific list or other? I'm testing locally to try and support additional domains. I can add new mailing lists with a domain: announce-123(a)mydomain.com I can't add a new mailing list with an alternate domain: announce-123(a)testing.com Following the documentation for domains I'm able to successfully add the new domain (locally) with the following steps: https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/model/docs… 1. Shell into the mailman server 2. Shell into the mailman Python environment: mailman shell 3. OK, I think I was clearly in the phase of dealing with errors caused by my attempts to deal with previous errors. So I backed out and did a clean install. Again, the installl seemed to go without a problem. Then: 1) I set up a mailinglist (tradfp(a)forensicpath.us) for "old school" forensic pathologists to discuss cases. 2) I added a couple of users: oliver(a)billoblog.com on the same box as the mailinglist, though on different virtual domains, and william.oliver(a)knoxcounty.org, a local government domain not associated with my box. Results: The welcome message did not get delivered to either address. When I send email from those addresses to tradfp(a)forensicpath.us, I get the following error from both: Your message couldn't be delivered The message you sent to tradfp(a)forensicpath.us couldn't be delivered due to: Recipient email address is possibly incorrect. Further information 5.1.1 <tradfp(a)forensicpath.us>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual mailbox table If you sent this message to multiple addresses, you'll receive a notification like this for every one that didn't arrive. That is when I started going down the dovecot rabbit hole. You’re seeing this error because you have DEBUG = True in your Django settings file. Change that to False, and Django will display a standard 404 page. ----------------------------- Switching DEBUG=True (currently set in settings.py) to false does indeed hide additional debugging output, but following pages are not accessible anymore (Server Error). user-profile/ accounts/logout/ hyperkitty/ Switching back to DEBUG=True brings back accessibility. adding personalized email header/content Hello, I'm upgrading from mailman 2.1 and need to have personalized email header and content. In 2.1 eventually (couldn't get custom handler work) I had to modify Decorate.py handler. Basically encrypting email and passing it as a parameter in google required One-click unsubscribe email header link (same in the message body). I tried creating a custom Handler (custom_header.py) in 3.3.19, adding outgoing_pipeline = custom_header in config [mta] section but it doesn't seem to be activating. Thanks

Hi friends. I'm now getting a 500 server error upon signing up a new username on the web-based front end. The username is created in the back end, but the verification email does not get sent. This is GNU Mailman 3.3.9 (Tom Sawyer), venv, Ubuntu 24.04LTS, PostgreSQL, Postfix Here are the corresponding logfile entries from mailmanweb.log: smtplib.SMTPRecipientsRefused: {'redacted(a)gmail.com': (504, b'5.5.2 <mail>: Helo command rejected: need fully-qualified hostname')} and from mail.log: Oct 14 12:06:26 domain postfix/smtpd[722764]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from localhost[127.0.0.1]: 504 5.5.2 <mail>: Helo command rejected: need fully-qualified hostname; from=<root(a)lists.domain.tld> to=<root@localhost> proto=ESMTP helo=<mail> lists.domain.tld is the domain for Mailman3. I don't know why it's trying to send email from root@. I've seen places where 'localhost' appears in the Mailman settings (settings.py, mailman.cfg, mailman-web.py), and tried changing them to the host's FQDN and restarting mailman3 and mailman3-web, but the problem persists. Hello, I'm migrating from mailman 2.1 to the latest version (3.3.9) on Almalinux 9 (python 3.19, postgresql 13.16). Have followed the instructions here https://docs.list.org/en/latest/install/virtualenv.html#virtualenv-install to perform a clean install on a new VM. Everything seems to be working (well, I just created one list and doing some basic tests). What I have noticed is hundreds of PGsql connections from mailmanweb. Database permission problem?

I have mailman3 installed and mostly configured on a linux machine running ubuntu 24.04. I can use mailmanweb to add and delete mailinglists and users. However, mail is not getting delivered at all. I have both mysql and postgres installed -- I'm using postgres only for mailman, and mysql for dovecot and postfix. Mail, in general, works fine. I'm hosting four virtual domains on this box, and mail to and from all of them to many users gives me no errors. There are quite few discussions (back to 2020) dealing with the variable max_day_to_hold and the (non-) handling of the set value, I found for example Marc's comment https://lists.mailman3.org/archives/list/mailman-users@mailman3.org/message… : I'm really not sure what you are looking to do, but I can tell you that while the max_days_to_hold list attribute exists and can be set, the actual discarding of held messages older than max_days_to_hold is not implemented. Thus the setting currently does nothing. My question: Are there any plans to bring this into action, so that held messages are really discarded after that number of days? (like it was in mailman2)?

Hi friends. I have multiple domains under MM3 (venv, postfix+postgres, Ubuntu 24.04LTS). Currently at version GNU Mailman 3.3.9 (Tom Sawyer). Following some user complaints, I've discovered that one of the domains isn't working at all. Messages arrive via postfix and are in the MM smtp.log, but then generate a Python error in mailman.log. Other domains are working as usual. The lists in this domain used to work (I can see messages in the archives, and have received copies). But I imported a bunch more MM2 lists since then, and perhaps there is a problem with one of their configurations. Pointers to how to fix this will be appreciated! Delivery never happens. I've tried with listname(a)lists.domain.tld as well as listname-owner(a)lists.domain.tld. The lists in the domain seem to be set up properly -- they used to work fine! I am suspicious the problem happened when I imported some other lists, but those imports didn't cause any errors. Recently redeployed mailman3 and then received huge amount of subscription disabled notification emails

Hi everyone, I recently redeployed our mailman3 server. As the owner for one of our mailing lists, I received a huge amount of subscription disabled notification emails. These emails mentioned that the subscription was disabled due to bounce score. Furthermore, we received a few emails from our subscribers saying that they have functioning email addresses and not sure why there were bounces and that their subsctiptions had been disabed. I have some questions: 1. Why do mailman mass send out subscription disabled notification emails to admins after it's been redeployed? 2. I have "Bounce disable warnings" set to 3 and "Bounce disabled warnings interval" set to 7d. How come there are still so many emails seem to be disabled but not unsubscribed? Hence we receiving so many subscription disabled notification emails. 3. What could have cuased functioning emails to bounce and therefore being disabled? Thank you in advance! Frances 3.

Hi, We migrated ~100 lists from mailman2 to mailman3 (very nice!) including > 6000 distinct email addresses ("subscribers"). I would like to run the mailman changeaddress command to do a global change of email for a member that moved. But they have other subscriptions using their new email, so both the old and new address are migrated to mailman3 as distinct "members", which prevents the mailman changeaddress from making the change with error: $ mailman changeaddress "EMAIL_1" "EMAIL_2" Usage: mailman changeaddress [OPTIONS] OLD_ADDRESS NEW_ADDRESS Try 'mailman changeaddress -h' for help. First: Last night I got everything installed and, I think, working. Unfortunately, I forgot to write down the name and password of the superuser I created. I know what I put in as password, but I cant' remamber the name of the superuser. I know I could just create another superuser with "mailmanweb createsuperuser" but I was wondering if there was a "mailmanweb" command for *listing* superusers. If not, I'll just make another superuser... Second: I have the "example.com" error in the login screen. The instructions state that this is a problem with making SITE_ID=1. Okay, but I don't know what to change it to. I tried SITE_ID=2 on a lark and everything broke, and the instruction say not to do SITE_ID=0. Apparently it has to be an integer (I also tried putting in site name and got that error). So... where do I change it? Thanks! billo

So I went ahead and tried to install mailman3 on ubuntu 24.04 using the virtual environment approach. It worked like a charm. There were a very few glitches, all from me not reading the instructions closely (e.g. not replacing MY_SERVER with my server name, Doh). The whole thing, from start to finish was about two hours. I appreciate all y'alls efforts in this. The reason I'm doing this is that I'm having to migrate from a server that's going to be defunct soon. I've been running a mailman3 mailing list on that for a few years. Is there a tutorial/instructions on migrating data from an old system to a new one? It's actually not the end of the world if I don't get all the old emails transferred, but I'd like to get the email addresses of the participants moved over easily... I believe that I set it up in 2020, but did not do any version upgrades since then... Thanks! billo

Should I try to install mailman3 on Kubuntu 20.04?

I have been a happy camper running mailman3 on a vps I rent from a vendor, running CentOS 7. CentOS 7 is past end of life, so I moving over to a new machine running Kubuntu 20.04 LTS. I have been searching the intertubes and have seen a bunch of people having headaches trying it. So... Is Ubuntu 20.04 cool with mailman3? Should I go ahead and give it a shot or use a different distro? Should I do the apt install, the virtualenv install, or try the docker install? thanks billo

Pre Verified 4. Invitation We think it would be easier for us and our mailing list administrators to understand the interaction of these settings if they were displayed in the following order: 1. Pre confirm 2. Pre Verified 3. Pre approved 4. Invitation as in our opinion "Pre confirm" and "Pre Verified" belong together more than "Pre confirm" and "Pre approved". Hey Everyone! I am pleased to announce new release of Mailman Core 3.3.10. This includes both bug fixes and new features. A full list of changes can be found at the usual location[1]. This release includes a Breaking change and nntp runner no longer starts automatically in the default release. You can easily enable the runner by updating your `mailman.cfg`. Hello All Community Member, I am in the process of setting up Mailman 3 on an Ubuntu 22.04 server & have faced some challenges during the configuration phase. Also I have followed the installation guide & while Mailman Core and Postorius seem to be working I am struggling to configure the Mailman web interface correctly with NGINX. Also I have tried a few different configurations for the reverse proxy but I m running into 502 Bad Gateway errors. Does anyone have experience setting up Mailman 3 with NGINX who might be able to offer some guidance? ?I am interested in seeing a working configuration file for NGINX and any tips on troubleshooting Mailman 3 issues during this phase. Managing users in postorius

In our environment, people have multiple email addresses, any/all of which might be used as members or admin addresses. I try to steer people in the right direction, but inevitably, we end up with people registering the ‘wrong’ address or even both addresses. I don’t seem to have very much control with the site admin account. I’d like the ability to add a secondary address for a user instead of talking them through the process of doing it themselves. Is there a way that I’m not aware of? Additionally, when I look up users and choose ‘manage’, it only lists a person’s member roles. It doesn’t list any other roles (owner/admin, moderator, etc). Any way to fix that? I’m also curious what the process would be for merging two postorius accounts into one? My thought process was that I should remove one and then have the user add that email address to the other account. But, if you delete the account, it will unsubscribe the user. Mailman3 migration and/or archiving problem

I have installed a mailman3 server following this documentation: https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/install/virtualenv.html#virtualenv-inst… After a few hiccups I got mailman and postorius working and migrated one list according to this documentation: https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/migration.html It seemed to work and also hyperkitty_import was run without errors (or at least none shown up). Running update_index command said that there were 0 threads copied but I kjnow that the archive isn't empty. But now when I tried to open the list info page from lists view it dies with 500 error. After diving into the different log files I found an error message that it cannot find /etc/mailman3/mailman-hyperkitty.cfg. Great. Only that the cfg file exists and seems to my (unexpert) eyes correct. After that problem I tried to create a new list. Creation seemed to go all right but also with it, trying to open the list info page it shows 500 error. When googling for a solution I landed on a message stating that there might be double entries for the same list in listarchiver table but when I checked ot turns out that the table is empty! I am a bit confused how to figure out the base cause of the problem and would very much appreciate any pointers. wbr hank

Can we let member moderation settings be considered after the header filters let the message through?

Hi there, We're trying to set up a list with a header filter to discard spam messages. The spam messages are tagged with a specific header before getting handed over to mailman3. Messages from non-members are correctly discarded by the header filter before hitting the moderation queue. But messages from members get moderated before getting discarded by the header filters. For this particular list we also moderate the members of the list. The default action for members is set to "hold for moderation". We would like to also discard spam messages from members before they become moderated. The X-Mailman-Rule-* headers on spam messages from members in the moderation queue look like this: ---- X-Mailman-Rule-Hits: member-moderation X-Mailman-Rule-Misses: dmarc-mitigation; no-senders; approved; emergency; loop; banned-address ---- Is there any way we can discard spam messages from members before they become moderated? Read mailing list config via CLI

I'm working on a feature to allow configuration of mailing lists using the REST API. The docs show how to do this: https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/rest/docs/… But I'd like to be able to verify settings using the mailman command or Python shell; and surprisingly I can't find where in the docs it shows how you can read settings on a per-list basis. I'm fine with either option, but I've spent about an hour digging through source code and docs and I'm not finding it. Would someonebe so kind as to point out how I can inspect configuration on a list by list basis? TIA.

These can be downloaded from PyPI: https://pypi.org/project/HyperKitty/1.3.12/ https://pypi.org/project/postorius/1.3.13 Note that due to some mistakes on my part, last 2 releases for Postorius & Hyperkitty were yanked since their builds uploaded to PyPI weren't correct due to some mis-configurations migrating from setuptools to pyproject.toml (with pdm) based package configuration. So, when updating from last installed versions, please look at the changelogs from older versions too for both these packages. MM3 Bounces status

Hi, I have some lists which are used primarily as a distribution method (rather than chat) and the person who uses these lists doesn't have access to the detailed MM logs and is not interested in that. It would be very helpful for message bounces (& any other anomalous events, if any) were to be available to that person for each message that is sent out, in a manner similar to mailgun et al. I know something of the bounce processing MM3 does, but it seems to be totally hidden from e.g. the postorius end of things (unless I'm missing something?). Is there a way for bounce events to be emailed to the list owner, or for something to be available in postorius to show this info? If not in the standard package, do other people have ad-hoc solutions to this issue? My ideal option would be for a configurable per-message email or postorius link that reports the number of emails to send (=number in mlist), the number on 'no-mail', the number sent successfully (=no bounce?), the emails of those who bounced (with bounce score), and emails of blocked sends (eg by multiple bounces). So for example: Bounce report for listname: Email Subject: Announcement Sent: today at time From Email: user(a)example.com received (today at time) To List: listname(a)example.com with 100 subscribers; 89 successful; 4 bounces; 3 blocks; 4 nomail; Bounces: - foo(a)bar.example.com (no mailbox) - bar23(a)foo.example.com (timeout) - alice(a)baz.example.org (mailbox full) - bob(a)example.net (bounce-reason) Blocked: - foo(a)bob.example.com (score 3) - bar23(a)alice.example.com (admin ban) - alice(a)alice.example.org (score 2) I suspect that my ideal option would require changes to the internal processing, because MM would need to keep more information about bounces than I think it currently does. Questions regarding message acceptance

Hello, I have few questions regarding usage of Mailman3: 1) We have list1 and list2 with members. Can we specify that all members of list1 can post messages to list2? We could potentially write a script that would synchronize members of another list to “Accept these non-members” of another list, but with thousands of lists it will be difficult to maintain lists in synchro. So perhaps there is a concept of adding another list to “Accept these non-members” and mailman real-time evaluate membership of another list upon message arrival? 2) In explanation of “Accept these non-members” it’s written: “While non-regexp addresses can be entered here, it is preferred to add the address as a nonmember and set the nonmember's Moderation to Default Processing”. I noticed that if someone posts to a list then he is added automatically to non-members. Which means that next time he will be able to post. My understanding is that it’s better to use the feature “Accept these non-members”. Am I correct? Thank you, Paweł

Configure new list via REST API - trying to add moderators

I'm stepping into some existing code which creates a new list via the REST API. I know this works because I can shell into the mailman3 box and run `mailman lists` and it shows the newly created list. We're also submitting list config options via the `/lists/<list id>/config` endpoint, but there's a specific key that we have in our config map that doesn't appear in the REST API docs and I'm wondering about it. We have an array of strings called `moderator` that appears to send successfully. But looking at the docs for "Mailing list configuration" (https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/rest/docs/…) I don't see anything named `moderator` The "Managing owners and moderators" docs (https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/commands/d…) indicate that we can perform add owners and moderators via a Python shell, but don't indicate that it's possible to do it via REST. Is this true?

Phantom Email Address in Nonmember List

Have an issue that is more of a puzzle than a problem. No real harm done. So don't spend much time on it if you don't recognize the issue. I am administrator for a small list, radg(a)lists.radg.us, hosted by Mailmanlists.net. They are trying hard to figure it out but so far unsuccessful. Looking at the headers of emails sent from steve(a)stevebrown.us to the list and boomeranged back to me, I see a line “X-MailFrom: bounce+66273f.99dcd9c-radg=lists.radg.us(a)stevebrown.xn--us-02t. I gather that it is designating the return path where a message would be sent if there was a delivery problem. From its position in the header, I suspect it is added as they pass through Mailgun, maybe related to DKIM. I am hoping you might know why that bounce address is recognized by Mailman 3 as a real address for my emails, but not for others, even from my wife’s computer traversing the same path from our home to the Mailman 3 server. The Mailman installation does get and process the post, but also puts the “bounce+,,,” address in its list of nonmembers. Mailmanlists.net hasn’t figured out the behavior. I can provide full header information if that would help. My understanding of how headers work is very limited. Steve Brown

mailman import21 passwords

Hi, On https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/faq-migration.html it says "Mailman 3 has a completely new account management system, none of the passwords from Mailman 2 will work with Mailman 3. Each user needs to sign up in Postorius for a new account to manage their memberships on all lists on a single instance." "Each user needs to sign up in Postorius for a new account" I am (personally) satisfied with this answer. However others at the company are asking for a detailed explanation. Consider that - - Mailman2 has access to password information. - Import scripts such as "import21" are able to import list information. - It seems that scripts such as "import21" could also generate new user accounts and passwords based on the previous ones. Why can't passwords be imported from mailman2 to mailman3? How difficult would it be to do? (is there a link to where this is already explained? ) Thanks

Required permissions for mass operations

Hi, I've Mailman 3.3.3 running with some mailing lists and it works great. Now I'm looking for a configuration option. I'd like to have some users with permission to - moderate lists AND - perform mass operations (add members, delete members) AND - change settings for single members (execute actions in menu point "Users", "Members") It should be impossible to change other list or mailman settings for this users. To give them the moderation permission is quite easy: I add the users to the moderators of the lists. But for the user management I've to add the users to the list owners and then is there no restriction anymore to change the full list configuration. What can I do? I link to a documentation for this would help as well, but I found nothing. Thanks a lot for an answer Torsten

Disabled by bounce

Hi all, Apparently Google just started to get very aggressive about DKIM settings. Some hundreds of my subscribers have had their subscriptions disabled because of Google's bounces. I tried to 'Enable' some of them, expecting that their bounce scores would be reset, but when I list the users, the bounce scores are still 5. Please advise. Will enabling them without the bounce score being reset just cause the server to disable them again. Yours, Allan

Hi, I set up mailman3 following the instruction on the mailman3 website. Best practice when deleting a mailing-list (archiving an old list)

Hello, With Mailman2, my list deletion procedure was quite simple: - export the list configuration with config_list - export the list members - archive the archives somewhere - remove the aliases manually - delete the list I think that with Mailman3, the above can be done as follows: - export the list configuration with https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/rest/docs/… - export the list members with https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/model/docs… - archive the archives somewhere: this is my main question - remove the aliases manually: this is automatic - delete the list So, is there a simple way to export a list's archives in a way it can be reimported, now that everything seems to be in the database? Archiving the whole database is an issue here (its compressed dump size > 2 GB). Thank you for your ideas or pointers!

Mass Subscribe caused Delivery Status to become "unset"

One of the admins on our Mailman site said they recently performed a mass subscribe operation on list, however they noticed that for each user they subscribed, their "Delivery status" was unset, so they weren't receiving email updates whenever there was new activity on the list. They had to go in after the fact and manually set it to "Enabled" for each user that was subscribed via the mass subscription operation. Is this behavior expected? During the mass subscribed, pre-confirm, pre-approved, and pre-verified checkboxes were all checked.

It takes a very long time to display the list archives

When I try to display the archives of any list in my mailman3 installation it takes forever for it to display. We are talking a good three or four minutes. It doesn't matter if there are 100 messages in the archives or just one. We are using postgres for the mailman3 and django databases. On the server, when I click to display a list's archives, I see the process "gunicorn: worker [gunicorn]" is using nearly 100% of available CPU.

We have been experiencing a strange anomaly. We are running a small-ish list. When a particular subscriber to the list sends an email to the list, a couple of dozen (or more) of the recipient's of the message end up with their bounce scores incrementing. This particular subscriber uses about three different email addresses when he sends his messages and every one of them causes this behavior. There is another subscriber who also causes this behavior when he sends an email to the list, but only one of the two email addresses he sends from causes this behavior. There is a third person who causes this behavior every time. There are dozens of other subscribes who don't generate this behavior when they send to the list. I can't figure out why this is occurring. I *assume* that Mailman re-writes the headers to add DKIM, etc., before sending them to the list recipients but it sure seems like something in the header from the original sender is ending up in the final header (or something is LACKING) which is not liked by the recipient's MTA's. It doesn't seem like a subscriber sending an email to the list should be able to cause this behavior - but I'm no expert. The recipients appear to be using many different mail platforms (ie. their addresses are not all, or even mostly, @google.com or some other domain; the recipients appear to be a pretty good cross section of platforms). This has been going on all year (maybe longer). Any help or troubleshooting suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What have I done: - based on the list here I've checked different settings in the cfg files - looked for errors in the log What else can I do to solve this problem ? In Mailman v2, one could use @listname in ‘accept_these_nonmembers’: A line consisting of the @ character followed by a list name specifies another Mailman list in this installation, all of whose member addresses will be accepted for this list. I don’t see this option listed in version 3. Is it no longer supported/allowed? Is there another option? We often send email to lists of lists and have loved that @listname option to help us deliver email to 20+ lists without needing to approve the emails each time or reconfigure all the lists when another sender needs to be added. security app causing django Internal Server Error: /archives/search emails

Greetings, I have set up a few lists and all seems to be working as expected, however I get a large number of emails due to internal server errors received when my security application is testing exploits to list URLs such as the following: https://<mylistdomain>/archives/search?sort=177120&cauft=&page=1&q=../../../../../../../../../../tmb/wditeteet424465304.txt. Is there any django logging filter changes that can be made to avoid receiving these emails? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Assistance Needed for Ubuntu 22.04 Mailman3 Installation and Configuration

Hello Everyone, I'm trying to install Mailman3 on an Ubuntu 22.04 server right now, and I've run across a few obstacles that I'd like help with. I've followed the installation instructions, but I'm having trouble in a couple places, so I was hoping an experienced someone might help me out. This is what I have completed thus far: - I used the apt-get package manager to install Mailman3. - PostgreSQL was configured as the database backend. - Postfix was installed and set up to function as the Mail Transfer Agent (MTA). - Assemble Postorius, Hyperkitty, and the Mailman3 core. Problems I'm Having: Postorius and Hyperkitty Connectivity: I'm having problems making sure that the Mailman core is correctly connected to Postorius and Hyperkitty. I get a 502 Bad Gateway error when I try to access the web interfaces. Despite checking my specifications, I am unable to identify the problem. Problems with Email Delivery: I'm also having trouble with email delivery. Although Mailman appears to be receiving emails, it is not appearing to be sending any out. I think there might be a Postfix problem, but I'm not sure how to solve it. Generally Suggested Practices: Are there any particular security best practices I should be aware of when it comes to Mailman3 installations? Dist. List forwarding and DMARC Reject circumvention. Will this pattern work?

I would be grateful if someone could vet and verify (or guide otherwise) the following pattern please. With the major mail vendors move to DMARC - Full Reject, I have a small challenge. - We have a number of 365 Distribution List addresses. - These lists accept email from anyone and, currently, then forward those emails onto list members. - List members, however, are NOT necessarily email addresses within the list's mail domain. They might be outlook.com, Gmail, yahoo, Hotmail, username(a)local.ISP. Consequently, DMARC Reject policies are causing these emails to be marked spam as the 365 Dist. List forwarding is not doing any header manipulation. My thinking is: - I could set up a Mailman list (elists.mydomain.com) alongside the 365 Exchange mail domain (mydomain.com) - I leave inbound mail deliver to the 365 Dist. lists. - I reconfigure the (mylist(a)mydomain.com) Dist. Lists to fwd to a similarly-named Mailman address at the email sub-domain (mylist(a)elists.mydomain.com) - The Mailman list, by virtue of having to use the 365 MTA, should be able to accept all inbound from the list (mylist(a)mydomain.com) - Mailman would then need to re-write the mail headers such that the inbound email to-be-forwarded from the Mailman list, both appears to come from the (mylist(a)mydomain.com) address, and also has the 365 'mydomain.com' SPF and DKIM records. And given Mailman has to use the 365 MTA, it would actually be coming from that main mail domain. - Somewhere in there, the original sender's email address would need to be included, such that a Reply-to-All from a receiving List member would not only go back to the List, but also the original sender. My thinking is that with this pattern, I don't need to worry about inbound emails to the list address as that would simply continue to function as normal, and fwdd mails from the List to recipient list members would not be marked spam as the headers would all be good. Is my thinking good? Or am I out of my cotton-pickin' mind?

Issue with mailman auto subscription

Hello, I migrated my mailman 2 instance to mailman 3 some months ago. Some users have been reporting lately that auto subscriptions don't work anymore. In the affected list both the Subscription and un subscription policies are open, which means that normally a user that sends a "subscribe" mail automatically subs to the list. This works fine for users that have been subscribed in the past but not for new users. The latter get a mail stating that a confirmation is needed ("Your confirmation is needed to join the XXXX(a)my.lists.com mailing list"). I see nothing out of the ordinary in the mailman.log file and co. Any ideas? systemd unit file modification: start / stop both services at once

Hi, I've made a slight adjustment to my systemd unit files for Mailman3 such that I only ever need to start / restart / stop mailman3.service and mailman3-web.service will have the same action automatically applied to it. It's called `Upholds` and binds the 2 services together. I humbly suggest it become the default. In my case, I added a file here: /etc/systemd/system/mailman3.service.d/override.conf with these lines: [Unit] Upholds = mailman3-web.service Before = mailman3-web.service Now, starting mailman3.service will *also* start mailman3-web.service. Restarting mailman3.service will *also* restart mailman3-web.service. Stopping mailman3.service will *also* stop mailman3-web.service. Those 3 lines could be placed in mailman3.service, or something like `UpheldBy=mailman3.service` could go in the mailman3-web.service. Hopefully this would make things slightly better for Mailman3 admins out there. rb

Hi everyone, I moderate several email lists for a university using Postorius 1.3.4.1. I've been trying to update our lists by removing members who have left the department. However, when I click on a name and then "Unsubscribe Selected," I always get a 502 Bad Gateway message, and I'm unable to remove any users from the list. This has happened on every attempt across multiple users on multiple mailing lists. Does anyone know what might be going on? I appreciate the help!

Dear all, I'm confused about how to enable ARC signing and how it is related to DKIM. As it stands, the contents of the section [ARC] in mailmain.cfg are [ARC] enabled: yes authserv_id: *******.org # Should this be the address of the mailserver (postfix) instead? privkey: /etc/mailman3/***.org.mailman.key # Shouldn't this point to the same private key used by rspamd for DKIM signing? selector: mailman # shouldn't this point to the same selector as rspam, or should it be separate? If so, should I also set up a separate TXT entry domain: ****.org # mailman serves multiple domains. Should all be there? Should the exact subdomain be there? Finally, how come that at present, mailman does NOT sign the messages? They come with the original DKIM signature, but there is no ARC signature. Unfortunately, the official documentation says very little about ARC, so I have to post my possibly stupid questions here. Johannes

Hi friends. Following up on my message over the weekend about getting web (Django) logins for users who were ported from MM2 to MM3, I now have some people trying to create a new username. Something broke following a system update and reboot. MM3 is installed using the venv method, and the services (mailman and mailman-web) seem to be running ok. Mailing list delivery is happening as usual. I've now come upon a few related situations where a 500 error results, "Server error. An error occurred while processing your request." My primary question is: *How can I find out what's causing this*? I've looked in all the MM and web logfiles, by "tail -f" while generating the error, and nothing is logged there. Hi. I've had several Postorius error messages which have resulted in an email. Is this someone up to mischief or have I missed a configuration somewhere? We had several of these over a short period and nothing since then which makes me think someone was running a script on the endpoint, but would be interested in confirmation from those that know better. I am working on disabling a list removing all members using REST and then setting archive_policy to "private" also using REST. This changes the UI Archive policy setting to Private archives as I would expect, but I just discovered that the (now previous) member, still logged in, and alså public (not logged in), still have access to the archive. It is not browser cache. At the moment I click Save in the UI settings/archiving, both logged in user and not logged in user (other browser) changed to "This mailing list is private. You must be subscribed to view the archives." on page reload. It seems that i need to click Save on every list having been changed, before the archive is hidden. Is that a bug? I am currently using Postorius Version 1.3.5 and HyperKitty version 1.3.4. /Henrik

RDS CA changes

Hello, So, my Mailman3 installation (inherited – guy who set it up has left) is using PostgreSQL that is an AWS RDS instance. I have received an alert from AWS that the CA certificate used to create the database is expiring, and they want me to update the certificate before it expires: "Update Your Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora SSL/TLS Certificates by August 22, 2024 " https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/rotate-your-ssl-tls-certificates-now-amazo… Our DBA team is requesting that we update applications by installing the new CA within the application's certificate store. As near as I can tell from reading the Mailman 3 docs, and looking at my mailman.cfg and settings_local.py ... I don't know that Mailman 3 is using certificate verification for the PostgreSQL connection. At least, I can't see anything in those configuration files that suggest this. Does anyone know if this is the case – or which configuration file I should look at to verify? Will my Mailman 3 be ok if the DBAs go ahead and update the certificates on their end? Removing all moderatortors (and owners) from a list in one go

As there doesn't seem to be a "Disable list" REST call (not an "export list" REST call, I am trying to remove all members, moderators and owners, changing list description etc. I managed to remove all members from a list in one go using https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/rest/docs/…, but the same command, using /roster/moderator does not apply for moderators (now owners I guess). To me it seems that each moderator has to be removed one by one, either: * using REST https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailmanclient/en/latest/src/mailmanclien… * or using the client https://lists.mailman3.org/archives/list/mailman-users@mailman3.org/thread/… * or using Python https://lists.mailman3.org/archives/list/mailman-users@mailman3.org/thread/… Isn't there an easier way? User cannot reset password

I imported MM2.1 lists to Mailman3 (using import21 - details are in my previous messages to mailman-users), and have had a couple of reports of people for whom the password reset function via "Forgot password" on the list login screen doesn't work as expected. This is a venv installation using PostgreSQL as the database: $ mailman info GNU Mailman 3.3.9 (Tom Sawyer) Python 3.12.3 (main, Jul 31 2024, 17:43:48) [GCC 13.2.0] config file: /etc/mailman3/mailman.cfg db url: postgresql://mailman:redacated@localhost/mailman devmode: DISABLED REST root url: http://localhost:8001/3.1/ REST credentials: restadmin:redacted The user selects "Forgot password" and enters their email - which I've confirmed is subscribed and receiving messages. They get this email: You are receiving this email because you, or someone else, tried to access an account with email redactaed(a)gmail.com. However, we do not have any record of such an account in our database. This mail can be safely ignored if you did not initiate this action. If it was you, you can sign up for an account using the link below. I looked in the PostgreSQL address table and confirmed the entry is there, and also of course looked at the Members list in the web-based front end. Everything looks ok. I suspect that lots of people will have the same problem, but have not yet tried to login & reset their password. The earlier reports indicated that people's saved passwords did not work, but I haven't replicated that. Any advice on what's going on and how to address it? I've migrated over 200 lists with thousands of users, so would rather not need to deal with every user via the web-based front end. But at this point I don't even know what to try to fix things. With the previous reports I unsubscribed the user and had them resubscribe - that worked as expected but required back-and-forth discussion and, more importantly, user inconvenience. Hi friends. A couple of weeks ago I asked for help with calling Mailman functions from within a Python program. This was to avoid using the web interface or shell commands to create a new list from a legacy Mailman 2.x list, and instead do it from within a Python program. Mailman/Django-allauth integration with Yahoo

Hello, Has anybody managed to use the Django-Allauth Yahoo provider to authenticate towards Mailman3? I have integrated mailman3/django-allauth/gmail — it works. I want in the same way to integrate mailman3 with yahoo mail. As advised at https://docs.allauth.org/en/latest/socialaccount/providers/yahoo.html , in yahoo I register an application with redirect URL https://l.bapha.be/mm3/accounts/yahoo/login/callback/ , then I add credentials under mm3/admin/socialaccount/socialapp/: client ID and Private Key. I append in settings.py:INSTALLED_APPS = [… 'allauth.socialaccount.providers.yahoo' ]. After I do all of this, I eventually visit /mm3/accounts/login/?next=/mm3/postorius/lists/at.l.bapha.be/, click on Yahoo: “Sign In Via Yahoo . You are about to sign in using a third-party account from Yahoo.” → [Continue]. Now at https://login.yahoo.com I enter user name and password. Then I get a site, partially in English, partially localized. It is in my domain at address /mm3/accounts/confirm-email/ , and states: Messages: Confirmation of email address sent to ...(a)yahoo.com Menu: Entrance \r\n New registration Confirm your email address: We have sent an email to you for verification. Follow the link provided to finalize the signup process. If you do not see the verification email in your main inbox, check your spam folder. Please contact us if you do not receive the verification email within a few minutes. I have indeed received an email, which states: New signin from … Hi, Your Yahoo account … was just used to sign in on …. If you did this, you’re all set. migrate MM3 list from an old server to a new one

hi all, i have an old mailman3 instance (3.2.1), and would like to migrate it's lists and archives to a new instance (3.3.8) on a different host. for various reasons, i don't think i am able to upgrade the old instance in-place. unfortunately, i haven't found any documentation on how to proceed. there *is* documentation about migrating MM2 to MM3; and my understanding is that `mailman-web migrate` can be used to upgrade a given MM3 instance to a new version. but how can i export an entire MM3 list (including 20 years of archives) to some serialization format, and import it again in another instance? thanks for your help. gamsr4e IOhannes PS: (again) I'm resending this message, as the one i sent yesterday seems to have vanished (i *did* check the archvies). i have no clue why this happens, as i can post via the webinterface just fine (only when using my trusted MUA they just vanish).

Header settings and Gmail

Hi, We operate a mailing list on which many members use their Gmail address. In the default settings, this results in a warning and delayed delivery (and maybe marking as spam): status=deferred (host gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[74.125.128.27] said: 421-4.7.28 Gmail has detected an unusual rate of unsolicited mail. To protect 421-4.7.28 our users from spam, mail has been temporarily rate limited. For 421-4.7.28 more information, go to 421-4.7.28 https://support.google.com/mail/?p=UnsolicitedRateLimitError to 421 4.7.28 review our Bulk Email Senders Guidelines. As a preventive measure, it helps to use DMARC mitigation action with “Replace From: with list address” and “ DMARC Mitigate unconditionally ”. But now some users are unhappy with the From header " Username via Test-liste <test(a)test-liste.org>". They would rather have their email address in it. Is there a solution with which Google delivers the mailing list messages without complaining, but the sender email address is also in the “From:”? Thanks Erik

Only Recent archive tab works after mailman upgrade

Hi, since I upgraded mailman to 3.3.9 (python 3.11.2) I have an odd issue on lists' archive page. Apparently only the Recent tab works. If I switch to Active or Popular I see the change in the url but page content does not refresh. I can not see any errors in browser console and in logs so I am quite clueless how to debug further :( Thanks for the ideas.

Where to put static files referred to from list Info page?

Hi friends. Some of my version 2.1 lists had some static files that were referenced from the list's HTML pages. I'd like to do the same for the lists now that they're ported to MM3. My question: Is there a place I can put these files within the Mailman directory hierarchy so they can be linked from the list Info page? I.e., under "Settings / List info / Long description" I'd like to include a <a href=...> to a file that's somewhere in a persistent location in the same directory tree as the Mailman web. I tried putting it under mm/var/lists/listname/ (where 'listname' exists, and is where templates go. This yielded a '404.' I confirmed I can add an href to the Long description, but don't know where in the Mailman3 directory hierarchy I can put the files. Thanks! Greg Newby

External MTA incoming mail: configuration

I have mailman set up to send mail via an external MTA, which is supported by mailman and described in the documentation here: https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/docs/mta.h…. Specifically it says: |lmtp_host|and|lmtp_port|are parameters which are used by Mailman, but also will be passed to the MTA to identify the Mailman host. The “same host” case is special; some MTAs (including Postfix) do not recognize “localhost”, and need the numerical IP address. If they are on different hosts,|lmtp_host|should be set to the domain name or IP address of the Mailman host.|lmtp_port|is fairly arbitrary (there is no standard port for LMTP). Use any port convenient for your site. “8024” is as good as any, unless another service is using it. However, there is a practical problem with LMTP (to receive incoming email) which is as follows: The setup in mailman.cfg: lmtp_host: lists.fast.za.net lmtp_port: 8024 Now, lists.fast.za.net is the mailman server. The docs say that mailman passes these on to the MTA. However, the MTA (postfix) on box2.gtahardware.co.za has the following setting in it main.cf: virtual_transport=lmtp:[127.0.0.1]:10025 If I reply to a signup confirmation email for example, the mail is received and processed by box2.gtahardware.co.za, and it is not passed on to the mailman server. So what is meant by "but also will be passed to the MTA to identify the Mailman host" in the docs? If I change the config of the MTA (postfix) to be "virtual_transport=lmtp:[lists.fast.za.net]:8024", I assume the incoming mail will be forwarded, but how does postfix know that only the mailman emails should be forwarded and not all the other mail that the server at box2.gtahardware.co.za receives? This is quite fuzzt to me at this stage. Could someone help me with some clarity please?

Create a mailman-web admin user

I having a hard time understanding how to create an admin user for postorius (mailman-web). The docs say at https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/config-web.html Setting up Admin Account <https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/config-web.html#setting-up-admin-account> To create a superuser account in Django, run the following interactive command as|mailman|user: (venv)$ mailman-web createsuperuser However, which user in the mailman user mentioned? I tried to do this as root, but login in as an admin doesn't give me any option to create new lists in postorius. What am I missing / doing wrong? regards Roland

using SSH/TLS with external MTA

I have managed thus far to get things working on my new install, but I need to use a secure logon to send mail from an external MTA. I have set up: /etc/mailman/mailman.cfg: smtp_host: box2.gtahardware.co.za smtp_port: 465 smtp_user: roland(a)giesler.za.net smtp_pass: <hidden> smtp_secure_mode: smtps smtp_verify_cert: no smtp_verify_hostname: no I'll get a cert installed later, for now just want to get it going. This error occurs when I try to create a new user in postorius. Perhaps a reboot when the cronjob hadn't completed? And a possible manual remedy would be to wipe the indexed db and let the cron run again? Hello! I am using mailman3 (version 3.3.8) and it mostly works fine, but sometimes (usually several times every day) the error below appears. Any suggestions for what could be done about this? Should it be considered a bug in Django, so not a mailman3 problem, or does it indicate something wrong with mailman3 itself? MM3 generates long lines?

I'm seeing emails being dropped when mm3 talks to the local smtp server, with log errors like: 2021-06-23 15:42:24 1lvvea-007r8u-VN H=localhost (<FQDN>) [::1] F=<announce-bounces@<FQDN>> rejected after DATA: maximum allowed line length is 998 octets, got 1036 The email itself did not have such long lines AFAICT. I can disable line length checking on the mailserver, but that sounds like a recipe for the next one along to drop the email. Peter C

I'm able to remove a list moderator through the REST interface: >>> dump_json('BASE_URL/3.1/lists/LIST_NAME/roster/moderator') ... find the correct member_id from the output >>> dump_json('BASE_URL/3.1/members/MEMBER_ID', method='DELETE') If I know the moderator's email address, is there a way to do this in a python function? I have installed a testing server for an organization I'm working with to explore migration from MM2 to MM3. Our main list has archives from 1992, and when importing the mbox into hyperkitty/mm3 I notice the archives by month only go back to July 2007, but the messages are there when I search for specific ones from the old archive in the 1992-2007 range. Is there a better way to get this to show up, or perhaps a better format we can display old archives in that's not 400+ line drop down? Hi. I've set up MM3 in a venv successfully and am importing my legacy lists. I no longer have a running instance of mailman2, so don't know how I can change the offending list settings (i.e., in config.pck).
