Do you struggle with message rejected. AUP#CDRBL while using mailman with your ISP email relay?

Hello to all: mailman3 is phenomenal upgrade from mailman2. Very nice. Thank you to the team. In our family, we use mailman to provide redundancy on important financial emails. In this manner, emails from banks, government, ecommerce or other important providers are distributed to multiple family members. And we can ask family members if they paid the credit card bill, received their delivery, saw their tax liability or refund notification, etc. Does anyone else use mailman for such a purpose? Do you struggle with "message rejected. AUP#CDRBL" while using mailman with your ISP email relay? For example, when receiving email from a Bank or the Government of Canada on a mailman2 list, sometimes my ISP would not relay the email and I would get message rejected. AUP#CDRBL On mailman2, I mitigated by stripping headers, wrapping message and DKIM signing. makemigrations --merge error after Debian upgrade

Hi, I upgraded my debian version, and since, it seems that I have a problem. I tried `mailman-web migrate` (and `mailman-web collectstatic` etc.) and I get the error message: ``` CommandError: Conflicting migrations detected; multiple leaf nodes in the migration graph: (0010_auto_20220618_2315, 0014_schedule_cluster in django_q; 0014_auto_20220618_2315, 0018_alter_emailtemplate_language in postorius). To fix them run 'python manage.py makemigrations --merge' ``` So I tried `mailman-web makemigrations --merge` that ended with ``` PermissionError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/postorius/migrations/0019_merge_20240930_1159.py' ``` There is no such a file in the migration directory. how should I implement multiple domains for receiving emails to a list

Hello to all: I think I have resolved almost all of my issues. Thank you for your coaching. You are all super heroes. I have two domains: systemdatabase.ca, systemdatabase.homelinux.com All my lists should be on both domains. So h(a)systemdatabase.ca is the same list as h(a)systemdatabase.homelinux.com. I found this was the mailman2 behaviour on my old CentOS 7 installation and I am accustomed to it. I edited /opt/mailman/venv_mm/var/data/postfix_lmtp directly. Duplicated and edited all the lines. And compiled with postmap /opt/mailman/venv_mm/var/data/postfix_lmtp I sent a test email. This appears to work. Is this the best method to achieve this goal? What would you recommend?

I don't even see any calls to the REST API for each bans.ban() call. Should I see those? Or is bans.ban() directly modifying the database? I skimmed the source code and it looks like as if IBanManager and the concrete BanManager model seem to work directly on a DB connection, so I assume that it's not going through REST. If that is the case (I'm using sqlite3, nothing fancy), why doesn't it stick? Do I have to commit changes somehow? Mihai

CSS Hyperkitty ERROR

Hi, i installed mailman3 with virtualenv, all is working fine, the admin site works fine, the mailman(postorious) site works fine, but when im in hyperkitty the site shows without the css style.. in my web browser dev tool it shows like they loaded ok.. Here you can see what i see when loading hyperkitty https://freeimage.host/i/3n6kXKQ and mailman(postorius) https://freeimage.host/i/mailman.3n6kVix When i run my server with verbosity it shows like all is loading ok: https://freeimage.host/i/3n6SViG Any ideas? :/ My static files are loading from /static/CACHE/css/output.a0f71925131b.css and /static/hyperkitty/libs/fonts/font-awesome/css/font-awesome.min.css It seems like the real error are in the /static/CACHE files, because hyperkitty is the only one who load files from this directory.. postorius uses /static/postorius and all the css files are working fine. I checked permissions for the directory, cleared cache, etc.. i dont know what to do. Can't post to my own list from HyperKitty

Hi Everyone, I've recently installed Mailman3 and still testing it. I tried to reply to a topic on my own list while also being a superuser from HyperKitty, but I got this error message: "This list is moderated, please subscribe to it before posting." Then why I even see the archive of the private list? What might be wrong? One thing that might confuse the system is that I added a secondary e-mail to my account. I thought it would allow me to post from any of my addresses, but it seems like it's not the case, looks like I can only subscribe with one of the addresses. It also looks like HyperKitty has trouble matching up the addresses, as it lists 4 participants for the conversation, while 2 of them is my account, the other 2 is my test address. Missing styling on select pages

Hello all, I installed mailman3 on Rocky Linux 9 via the Virtualenv Installation installation guide. I configured Apache httpd to proxy gunicorn. For the most part, everything is looking good except for some select pages that do not contain the styling like all other pages. When a user sees the "Verify Your Email Address" screen, it's without any of the styling. /accounts/confirm-email/ Same for when a user tries to reset their password. The initial screen looks good (with styling), but after entering the email address and clicking "Reset My Password", the following screen is bare. /accounts/password/reset/done/ I have Mailman 3.3.10, Postorius Version 1.3.13, and HyperKitty version 1.3.12. Any suggestions?

Mailman3 OOM and high CPU usage

Hi team, Our Mailman3 server crashes with OOM and high CPU usage. As soon as we start the mailmanweb service (uwsgi process), the system crashes. It was working fine, but this issue started recently. We haven't changed any recently. Any idea how to fix this? or any suggestions? Look forward to hearing from you soon. Kind regards, Prasanth Nair

I have a mailing list that, due to specific circumstances, has a requirement to allow messages from a user that sends messages with no subject. I've added the address to the "Accept these non-members" collection, but messages from that address still get held for moderation, due to the no-subect rule. https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/rules/docs… https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/rules/docs… I went through the list's interface, and I wasn't able to find a mechanism to disable the rule, aside from editing the code itself. I also added header filters to immediately accept the message, but they still get held. Specifically, the rules I defined are: Header, Pattern, Action subject, ^Subject:\s*([[{(]?no[_ ]subject[]})]?)?\s*$, Accept Immediately subject, ^Subject:, Accept Immediately subject, ^, Accept Immediately Did I configure this correctly and/or is this the right course of action? Is there a better way to bypass this rule? Thanks

Dear All, We have a Mailman3 instance with around 500 mailing lists. Most of the mailing lists have 5000 subscribers. Because of some misconfiguration in the postfix, posting for 1000 users has been bounced. Until we realized what happened, the mailman had set delivery_status to "disabled_by_bounces." for many subscribers. Now, I am unable to locate any command or an API call through which I can change the delivery_status back to enabled for 1000+ users. Can you please guide me on how I can do this programmatically using cli (I will write a bash script) or using an API call? Regards, Hitachi.

Hello to all: I require a Debian 12 VM that supports: - Subversion - Let's Encrypt and required challenges - IMAP server - mailman3 - DKIM server I'm currently running same on a CentOS 7.x VM. So that needs to be retired/migrated sooner rather than later because CentOS is out-of-support. On the Debian 12 VM other services appear to be setup and working. mailman3 is the 2nd last service that I'm standing up. In this moment, I've been able to follow https://docs.list.org/en/latest/install/virtualenv.html and https://docs.list.org/en/latest/config-web.html I have mailman3 and mailmanweb services running successfully. I have not yet been able to integrate mailmanweb into Apache (probably because of the Subversion and Let's Encrypt requirements). But I'm able to access local Postorius instance and configure a superuser and a list with web browser running locally on Debian 12 VM. My list is named ebill. An email was received for the DL, but not distributed. Can you advise how to troubleshoot from here? remove website 'example.com' via django interface or "how to rush jourself off your feet" **Disclaimer: don't try this at home** in believe to replace the display of 'example.com' in the postorius-webinterface i logged into django-interface, under 'website' (very bottom of the left menu) i added my new website and then deleted 'example.com'. Result: i can't access my webinterfaces any more, neither django nor postorius. Questions: 1. Does somebody know about the correct approach to change the displayed url in the postorius-webinterface? 2. does somebody perhaps know how to revert those removal via CLI or other ways? greetings aiz

Specifically shown in the footer and in the system information page. Please let me know if there are any settings that I can set. I don't want to change any html code for the same. Hello to all: Even though I have mailman3-web and mailman3-full packages installed, it feels like everything is working properly up to this point. Hello, our first Domain was lists-test.mydomain.de. After this we added our real domain lists.mydomain.de and our migration from mailman2.1 has finished :-) When you go to lists-test.mydomain.de/archives/ in the the navbar only the name of our first test-domain is shown (lists-test.mydomain.de). How can we set the other domain there? I have tried to change the order of our two domains in the settings.py - without success. Find a smtp server to send out emails

Hi, This problem is not caused by mailman, but I still want to give it a shot here. I'm hosting a mailing list on top of mailman3. Emails are supposed to be sent out by AWS ses. However, ses requires that sender address must be verified, which leads to a problem that emails sent by subscribers to mailing list cannot be sent to other subcirbers, since their addresses are not verified. And it is impossible to verified every subscriber. Are there smtp service providers allowing unverified email address to send out emails, or do I have other solutions? Thanks. -- Best wishes, Leon

Hi all, I'm having *sudden* issues with our SMTP server (Amazon SES) erroring out while trying to send from our most active Mailman3 mailing list (~1,000 subscribers; modest Mailman3 (v 3.3.3) installation (10+ lists, Ubuntu). Here is the message. We've got several thousand log entries like this now: *554 Transaction failed: Duplicate header 'DKIM-Signature'* Mar 10 08:31:10 mail1 postfix/smtp[217753]: 738B53F15E: to=< brian(a)brianmichaelslaw.com>, relay=xxx.org[44.225.xxx.xx]:587, delay=37, delays=2/35/0.16/0.13, dsn=5.0.0, status=bounced (host said: 554 Transaction failed: Duplicate header 'DKIM-Signature'. (in reply to end of DATA command)) As we don't do any DKIM key signing on the related Postfix machine I've opened up a case with Amazon. However, if there is a troubleshooting I should adopt on this issue with regard to Postfix/Mailman I'd like to know what your recommendations are, or what steps I can follow to better help the vendor ensure that this issue isn't coming from either the Postfix machine or the Mailman machine. How to process emails with Mailman3?

Good day! I am setting up an email list for my local community (just myself right now). Being a nerd, I am using Amazon SES to send and receive emails. I have mailman installed on ec2 (using "pip install mailman") and it is working well enough to send an email to the list with /opt/mailman/venv/bin/mailman inject -f <somefile>all(a)mymaillist.org SES is putting incoming mail into an S3 bucket, one file per email. Using a small python program, I use the above command to send them to the list. When I add a user (like myself) I get a welcome email from all-request(a)mymaillist.org. When I respond, the mail arrives in the S3 bucket, but I do not know how to give it to mailman3. The "inject" command will not work because there is no "all-request" mailing list. How do I feed these administrative mails to mailman3? Moderation of held emails vs. spam

Hi, I now run Mailman 3.3.1, installed from pip. Is there now any way to prevent Mailman from forwarding the contents of the held message when notifying moderators of held messages? In my case these messages often are spam messages and if the entire contents are forwarded it triggers spam handling in the recipient address(es) which over time risks classifying all moderation emails as spam or even classifying the list domain or server as a spam source. Even my own outgoing filter classifies it as spam, which I will fix. I currently run rspamd for spam filtering, graylisting and DKIM and ARC verification/signing. Someone on this recommended it, thank you for that as it removes the need for other milters. I guess that this would be a simple change to make as a kludge but a proper implementation as a setting would be a lot better. I'd like it as a global setting but that might be too coarse. Use case is an organisation (here are the superusers) with sub-organisations (here are the owners, e.g finance, research, production) having lists for the very sub-org itself and its sub-sub-orgs (e.g. research-all, research-solar, research-wind, research-battery). Bad Request 400 error with nginx/uwsgi install of venv

Hello, and thanks in advance for any assistance. I followed the installation guide at: https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/install/virtualenv.html# I opted to use nginx and uwsgi. I can access mailman in the browser at https://SERVER_IP/mailman3 but when I try to use the hostname I get an nginx 400 bad request error. It seems like there is an issue with the nginx proxy. Bug Report - REST API

OS: Debian 12 Mailman Core: 3.3.10 Install Method: venv When I apply the "count" and/or "page" param on: /3.1/lists/name.sub.domain.tld/requests This resulted in a "404 Not Found" error from the REST API. If I remove the params, the API returns results. From what I read in the docs, pagination should be possible on this type of endpoint as it returns "entries", "start" and "total_size". Tests against: /3.1/domains /3.1/lists Works fine with the "count" and "page" param as expected.

Hyperkitty Replies showing up as new posts

I would expect that new posts to a list would show up in the archive and once you click on that thread you would see all replies. However in my Hyperkitty each reply to a thread shows up as its own post usually with the subject line saying RE: Original Message. Using clean_users.py

I have run clean_users.py with: DELETE_MAILMAN_USER = True DELETE_DJANGO_IF_MAILMAN = True However, when I go to https://mm3-site/mm/lists/listname.mm3-site/members/nonmember/ I still have hundreds of users listed despite the script having run and it showed hundreds of addresses removed. What might be the issue? Set member.moderation_action via REST API as part of message approval?

We're using Mailman 3.3.9. My team and I have written a simple UI for displaying and approving/rejecting held messages from non list members. The issue comes when a different nonmember sends an email and is approved (let's call it xyz(a)789.com) For some reason this blows out the "always accept" status of user abc(a)123.com and requires their email to be approved again. After some research I believe this is because the `accept_these_nonmembers` property has been deprecated (which seems valid because that property remains an empty array). Additional reading seems to indicate that we can now set `moderation_action` on each individual user which supercedes the mailing list's `default_nonmember_action` property (in our case it is `Action.hold`). And when trying to get the user_id for a nonmember it appears that it is not returned by the API. So, all that said, I'm looking for information on how to do one of the following. 1. When submitting a user's email to the `accept_these_nonmembers`, is there a way to indicate that the `member.moderation_action` should be a specific value? 2. Retrieve a nonmember record and have it include a member or user id that I can use to explicitly update the `member.moderation_action` value? There may of course be additional approaches that I'm not considering, but that's about the gist of it. Thoughts?

Something with DMARC and tags. So I checked the DMARC record for the sending domain somenet.org. It is "v=DMARC1;p=none;pct=100;rua=mailto:postmaster@somenet.org;mailto:postmaster@somenet.org;ri=3600;fo=1;" which is syntactically incorrect. The extra ";mailto:postmaster@somenet.org" is wrong, I guess the tag "ruf=" is missing here! It should probably read "v=DMARC1;p=none;pct=100;rua=mailto:postmaster@somenet.org;ruf=mailto:postmaster@somenet.org;ri=3600;fo=1;" So, should mm3 somehow "catch" this error somehow? Archive download - unexpected end of file

Hi, I have a MM3 list to whose archive I recently added an mbox file of older emails. Viewing/searching the archive (Hyperkitty) is working fine. Downloading archives "for the month" or "last 30 days" delivers the expected ".mbox.gz" file and those are fine. However, when I download the "Entire archive" and attempt to gunzip that ".mbox.gz" file I get the error: " ... unexpected end of file". Or using Gnome desktop's "Extract", I get the error "..truncated gzip input" Any tips on resolving this would be gratefully received. Best, Mark

Hyperkitty django.request forbidden

Hi, I moved from mailman to mailman3 in 2021. I hadn't have the time to fix the archiving. I can see the emails older then that in Hyperkitty, but none of the once still there is mailman3. What can be the problem? It's a Debian 12, I use the packages from the repo. Postorius extremely slow on some of the mailinglists

Hi, Postorius became extremely slow recently on some of our mailinglists, but not on all of them. Postorius even times out when opening some of them (https://<hostname>/postorius/lists/<mailing_list>.<domain>/) and shows the message "Mailman REST API not available. Please start Mailman core." This only happens when I am logged in (as administrator), but not when I am not logged in. It seems to be independent on the number of subscribers on the particular mailing list. Below you'll find an extract from the logs for a case where it timed out, and for a case where the page showed up after a long time. Mainly "GET /3.1/lists/<mailing_list>@<domain>/requests HTTP/1.1" takes a long time. There is nothing unusual going on regarding database queries, and mails are delivered normally. So instead of referencing a postmap generated file which MM3 presently generates, but have MM3 add and/or remove those records to/from a MariaDB table. Appreciate any insights on this task.
