Hi Folks, Whenever a non-member posts to a members-only list, the owners (because I haven't set any moderators) get a 3-part MIME message, from the xxx-owner email address. The first part is the template from .../mailman/templates/en/list:admin:action:post.txt The second part is a message/rfc822 copy of the held message. The third part is another message/rfc822 part that says, If you reply to this message, keeping the Subject: header intact, Mailman will discard the held message. Do this if the message is spam. If you reply to this message and include an Approved: header with the list password in it, the message will be approved for posting to the list. The Approved: header can also appear in the first line of the body of the reply. This is really confusing, as replying to the whole message will go to the '-owner' not the '-request' address, which will neither discard nor authorise the message, and will not contain the subject: heading from the encapsulated message. Is there any easy way, either to turn off generation of the third message, or make it so that acting on the message (hitting reply in your email client) will actually discard the message? Peter C

postorius / adjusted settings menu

Hi together, I want to adjust the settings menu to reduce to the options really needed. The easiest way would be to edit src/postorius/views/list* but I don't think that's a good idea. So what comes to my mind is to have some variable in the configuration that contains the menu items and - if set - the submenus. E.g. the following: { 'list_identity': ['!gateway_to_mail', '!gateway_to_news', '!linked_newsgroup', '!newsgroup_moderation', '!nntp_prefix_subject_too' ], 'automatic_responses', 'alter_messages', 'dmarc_mitigations', 'digest', 'message_acceptance', 'archiving', 'subscription_policy', 'bounce_processing' } would express: default menu and just remove the mentioned items. Of course, something like ['advertised', 'description', 'info', 'display_name', 'subject_prefix'] would work as well. Resorting should also be possible, so something like { 'list_identity': ['advertised', 'description', 'info', 'personalize'] } would give a very small list of items to select from. Shunt Error Mail?

I have a number of list managers with subscribers who are confused as to why their messages are silently disappearing. I've read the archives on how to decipher why a message was shunted, but this is not workable at scale. Is sending an error email back to the sender a consideration?

Domain ownership issues

Hi, I wanted to give another user the ability to create lists, so added that user as 'owner' of the domain. But he does not see the 'create list' button. Hyperkitty "All Threads" results in error

So I have been wrestling with this problem for a while now. Most times, but not every time, when someone clicks on the All Threads link in hyperkitty, a 500 error is generated. I googled it, obviously, and at first I thought it was related to this issue, but that has not proven to be the case: https://lists.mailman3.org/archives/list/mailman-users@mailman3.org/thread/… <https://lists.mailman3.org/archives/list/mailman-users@mailman3.org/thread/…> I’ve attached a “backtrace” below. How to disable subscribe by mail in mailman3?

Hello, I've setup a mailman3 for an organization. Organization members are authenticated by an LDAP backend and can thus use the web UI to subscribe. To avoid unnecessary moderation, I'd like to disable subscription by mail but still allow subscription through the web interface. (I've already hacked some code to dissallow subscribe by mail through posteros.) Regards, Thomas

Import Archives Assistance

I am working with a client in importing a large MM2 mbox file (around 1GB in size) into a Mailman 3 list using: /opt/mailman/mm/bin/django-admin hyperkitty_import --no-sync-mailman -l list@listdomain list.mbox I planned on syncing after the import. Well, the client did not have enough memory on the server for the above job and it crashed in the middle of it. I informed the client who added more memory to the VPS. I went and deleted the partial archives via Hyperkitty and proceeded with the above import job again. The job finished but it seems only the messages that were imported were those AFTER the crash happened. How can I remove the archives completely so I can rerun this mbox file in its entirety? -- Brian Carpenter Harmonylists.com Emwd.com

Is there a way to stop the who request to get membership list? i.e.: if we send an email to {list}-request@... with *who {password} *on the subject line, it will send the membership list to the member, I want that option to be disabled for privacy reasons. Thanks, Vako

If you want me to paraphrase in the task description, let me know, but I preferred to do it this way to encourage applicants to join the community. (Note: we haven't been selected yet, so this isn't any more public than the archived mailing lists.) Suggestions of other GSoC tasks and refinements to existing ones welcome. However, please discuss them on the list (or to a core dev privately) unless you have GSoC experience. Google has specific requirements for Summer of Code projects, so there are a lot of important tasks that should not be on that page. If you have an enhancement that you'd definitely like to put on our agenda, and also suggest for GSoC, feel free to file an issue on the tracker and point me, Mark, or Abhilash to it. Steve
