Auto discard after max_days_to_hold not working.

Dear all, I have migrated around 300 mailing lists from Mailman 2 to Mailman 3. In most of the mailing lists we have configured "max_days_to_hold" to 2. It was working fine in Mailman 2. However, it is not working in Mailman 3. Mailman version: GNU Mailman 3.3.10 (Tom Sawyer) Python 3.11.9 Rocky Linux 9.5 Crontab: @daily /opt/mailman/venv/bin/mailman digests --periodic 00 08 * * * /opt/mailman/venv/bin/mailman notify * * * * * /opt/mailman/venv/bin/mailman-web runjobs minutely 0,15,30,45 * * * * /opt/mailman/venv/bin/mailman-web runjobs quarter_hourly @hourly /opt/mailman/venv/bin/mailman-web runjobs hourly @daily /opt/mailman/venv/bin/mailman-web runjobs daily @weekly /opt/mailman/venv/bin/mailman-web runjobs weekly @monthly /opt/mailman/venv/bin/mailman-web runjobs monthly @yearly /opt/mailman/venv/bin/mailman-web runjobs yearly Please guide me in this regard. Managing mailman3 via curl (using bash-scripts or perl-scripts)

Hello Mark, hello Stephen, sorry for bothering again...but the amount of documentation is overwhelming... Some info about my setup: I run mailman3 in an virtual environment with postgresql-Server (all in recent versions) - operating system Ubuntu 24.04-LTS. My aim is to provide one high-level script for the daily task of list creation. - list creation via command-line script with two/three parameters like: ./create-list --listname myfirst.list(a)lists.example.org --admin-email admin-user(a)example.org [--admin-name "Peter Rabbit"] The create-list script itself should be a bash- or perl-script (I am not very familiar with python - SORRY ;-) ) I would like the scripts to trigger some curl-calls on the mailman server (from outside the mailman shell and even from outside the virtual environment) Reading the RestAPI documentation here: https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/rest/docs/… several questions arise: 1) Can I succeed with this plan? (Are curl-calls sufficient? Is it possible from outside the virtual environment?) 2) Is this a viable curl-call to create a user?: curl -X POST -u 'admin-user:<password>' -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{ "email": "peter.rabbit(a)example.org", "display_name": "Peter Rabbit", "password": "secret" }' http://localhost:8001/3.1/users 3) and in a second step can I assign this user to a list as owner with a curl-call like this?: curl -X POST -u 'admin-user:<password>' -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{ "list_id": "newsletter.lists.example.org", "subscriber": "peter.rabbit(a)example.org", "role": "owner" }' http://localhost:8001/3.1/members 4) What about the commits that are used while operating in mailman shell? And how can I trigger commits via curl?) 5) In the unlikely event that I change from the dark side to the good side i.e. "python programming" ;-) is there a "to-the-point" reference for IListManager, IUserManager etc. giving available functions (with parameters) in a kind of list way? (the example kind of documentation referenced above is good, but where can I find a list of all functions?) 6) I think the starting point for managing lists with python is here: https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/commands/d… right? 7) Going the python way will require to enter the virtual environment, right? Specifically the kind where all list emails come from the the same address, with the sender in Reply-To? It seems like this /should/ be the way it works. Isn't that what Reply-To is for? Do some email clients still mess it up? If they do, wouldn't it make sense to just send them a bounce notice and tell them to clean up their act? Context: considering moving to a paid email service like Mailgun or Twilio and having random unverified email addresses in the From: header seems to be a nonstarter for them, which makes sense.

CSV Export in Postorius only export email addresses but no names

Hi, I want to export the addresses of a mailing list in Postorius. At the List Members section I found 'CSV Export'. However it only exports the email addresses without the names. Is there a trick to make this happen? Thank you. Flo

Discrepancy in date time of archived message

Mailman Core Version GNU Mailman 3.3.10 (Tom Sawyer) Mailman Core API Version 3.1 Mailman Core Python Version 3.11.2 (main, Sep 14 2024, 03:00:30) [GCC 12.2.0] Installation VENV Hi, I have a message posted to a list on 25 September at 20:57 UTC. The server is set to UTC and the date command shows it has the correct date and time. And I received the message ---- 25 September at 20:57 UTC But the message is shown (incorrectly) in the archive as having been posted on 26 September at 8:57 a.m. (out by +12 hours) It should be shown as 25 September 8:57 p.m. Any pointers on where I can adjust/correct this date/time setting for future posts? Hi everybody, as per subject, I'm getting this error in the hyperkitty log when mailman daemon tries to archive a mail. I've setup the hyperkitty.cfg file with api_key = MAILMAN_ARCHIVER_KEY in settings_local.py but still nothing. I've seen here and in GitLab issues some errors concerning a wrong api key but here it says that it wasn't sent at all. All packages installed via pip install + latest .zip release, including mailman-hyperkitty. Currently running on apache with mod_wsgi_py3 without https. Any clue? All the best, Marco Marinello

After server upgrade debian 11→12 and reinstalling everything in (venv), I got this error when accessing → mailman3/lists

Settings, Message Acceptance, Discard these non-members

Hello to all: We receive quite a bit of spam. I try to maintain some regular expressions in "Discard these non-members" to block spammers. Where would the "discard" notification be logged? I think the docs say "mailman.log". What would I search for?
