Hi all, our University has various departments and research projects and teams. Each of them might want more than one mailing list. It would be straight forward to create mailing lists such as: <list-name>@lists.mydomain.ch Example: In this case "digital" is an entity / Project / Department marketing.digital(a)lists.zhaw.ch<mailto:marketing.digital@lists.zhaw.ch> newsletter.digital(a)lists.zhaw.ch<mailto:newsletter.digital@lists.zhaw.ch> research.digital(a)lists.zhaw.ch<mailto:research.digital@lists.zhaw.ch> Other Examples might be: help.health(a)lists.zhaw.ch newsletter.health(a)lists.zhaw.ch research.health(a)lists.zhaw.ch<mailto:research.health@lists.zhaw.ch> If entities have more than one mailing list, it is required to build a stronger "mailing list identity", it is required to let the "entity" be part of the domain name: marketing(a)digital.lists.zhaw.ch newsletter@digital@lists.zhaw.ch career(a)health.lists.zhaw.ch newsletter(a)health.lists.zhaw.ch career(a)ict.lists.zhaw.ch support(a)ict.lists.zhaw.ch The University of Zurich (uzh.ch) does this as well and it looks very reasonable and useful to me: https://lists.uzh.ch/sympa/ca/domains https://business.lists.uzh.ch/sympa https://dqbm.lists.uzh.ch/sympa https://chess.lists.uzh.ch/sympa I have setup this mailing list test(a)digital.lists.zhaw.ch<mailto:test@digital.lists.zhaw.ch> but subscribing failed. * Subscribing via the Mass Import Form failed with a Server Error message in the browser. * Subscribing via e-mail test-join(a)digital.lists.zhaw.ch<mailto:test-join@digital.lists.zhaw.ch> because no response came from MM3. The mail to join has been delivered properly to MM3 but MM3 has swallowed the mail w/o response or error message. Hi All. Im trying to install the mailmain suite with the postorius and hyperkitty . Mailman installation completed successfully but for postorius and hyperkitty Im getting the following errors .. bouncing mail commands

Hi all, when a subscribtion confirmation is sent to MM it replies a bounce mail about unknown commands in the mail. This is very confusing for the users / subscribers and I'd like to disable this function. Actually our users do not need to send commands in the subject and in the body. So responding to words that are unknown commands is not helpful. Currently I have Postfix header and body checks in place that discard this messages from MM to avoid bothering our users. But how can MM3 be configured not to respond to unknown commands or not to parse the mail for commands at all? why owner mails rerouted to list

Hi All, we have moved to Mailman3 from Mailman2 recently, and have a quite strange problem: Every message sent to owners is forwarded to the lists instead of the owner's mail address. So for example if a non-member sends a message to MYLIST(a)MYDOMAIN.COM, then a notification appears on MYLIST (and all members receive it, the message also appears in the archive) instead of sending it to the private address of the owner set on the web interface. I found no obvious error either in mailman.log, smtp.log or the MTA's logs. This problem can cause a storm of mails as per default the owner is not allowed to send a message to a member-only list so each notifications generates a new notification. This storm is mitigated temporarily by accepting everything from the owner in a non-member setting, but it is only a workaround. I want mails sent to MYLIST-owner(a)MYDOMAIN.COM to be forwarded to the real owner instead of the list. The same is true for MYLIST-admin(a)MYDOMAIN.COM, and probably for the other administrative addresses. We are using GNU Mailman 3.2.1 (La Villa Strangiato) from the Debian Buster repo. As MTA we use exim4 (running on the same machine as Mailman), and have Amavisd on a separate machine for spam filtering. How can I test what happens to mails sent to the owner inside Mailman? Any help or tips on debugging this issue would be highly appreciated. To what extent can mailman 3 handle images and html?

Hi The other day I attempted to send a message from my mail client (Apple computer, Mail program, html--well, what they call Rich Text). While a user was able to send a message previously that contained an image, I was unsuccessful. As well, links were weird. LINKS ===== Because My wordpress often has a Japanese URL and they can become very long, I tried both the URL as is and embedded (made a clickable html link). So are there guidelines one whether/how to attach an image so that it makes it? Thanks

LMTP on unix socket

How do I configure mailman to use a unix socket for lmtp connections? Setting [mta] incoming: mailman.mta.null.NullMTA lmtp_host: /path/to/socket does not work. Mailman still tries to create a TCP socket.

Receiving 8bit-clean mail

A subscriber to a mailing list I administer has been sending 8bit UTF-8 encoded mail, with no further quoted-printable / base64 / etc. encoding. This is handled fine by my MTA and MUA, but Mailman seems to have trouble with it. When mail is sent out from Mailman, the « character is replaced by ??. Is this a bug, or is there just a configuration option or something I need to set? I couldn't find anything in the documentation.
