However, I don't think we need a sample crontab as we have <https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/config-core.html#configuring-cron-jobs> which should be enough. I think the real solution is to just remove the mailman/cron directory and at least some of the mailman/port_me/ files. The cron/crontab.in.in file is just a distraction. The symptom you see could result in a file in Mailman's mailman/templates/lists/<THIS.LISTS.ID>/<LC>/ directory not being readable by the Mailman user. If the person already is a core user when registering for Affinity, just update the core user as needed, probably only a password reset or just setting it if it is currently None. Then you don't have the issue of another, separate registration for Affinity. It doesn't import DMARC mitigation settings and I've seen one case out of several where it failed to import the list membership.
