If you are talking about Account confirmation emails, they usually are sent out from Django and not Mailman Core itself. To configure Django you need to edit the `settings.py` file, wherever that is one your installation. To configure your Django to send emails, have a look at http://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/config-web.html#setting-up-email-required. Finally, the actual emails from Mailing lists are supposed to be handled by Core. You need to configure Postorius & Mailman both to communicate. Got it in one! I had put "www.LISTDOMAIN.org/archive" in as the base URL in mailman-hyperkitty.cfg. No such host exists. Replaced with "LISTDOMAIN.org/archive" and all is well! Thanks!!! To the contributing community: would there be a way to enhance the logging of this error to include the resource that failed to connect? [MM3-users] Re: new list not working

When I ran mailman members -r -n enabled redlatinleg(a)lists.ccalternatives.org I did receive a list of subscribers for the new list I created, not just the owner or moderator. Upon closer examination, another of my longtime working lists is also not working. I used the below configuration. change following lines in mailman.cfg: smtp_host: your-domain.com.mail.protection.outlook.com smtp_port: 25 And then configure SMTP Relay Connector in Office365, so it can recognize your server. SMTP relay doesn't use a specific Office 365 mailbox to send email. I should clarify a bit. That connection string I mentioned in the previous post is in the docker-compose.yaml file for the docker-mailman containers. For web, it seems the settings.py file for the mailman-web container is configured to parse connection string, but there isn't (I don't think) any provision to set additional options, such as the encoding. So there doesn't appear to be a straightforward way, using the container yaml approach, to pass the 'OPTIONS' for the encoding. It does however look like it is possible to override the whole database connection settings using settings_local.py, but unsure. That would I think be the way to do it, setting the whole database configuration settings per https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman-suite/-/blob/master/mailman-suite_project /settings.py#L156 in the settings_local.py file. For core, the connection string seems to accept a tailing "?charset=utf8&use_unicode=1" per https://mailman.readthedocs.io/en/stable/src/mailman/docs/database.html So for core, maybe just updating the connection string to include "?charset=utfmb4&use_unicode=1" will just work? The link lists utf8 as the recommend encoding... maybe that should be updated? I realize this may be drifting more towards concerning the docker container setup vs. non-containerized core and web. But either way, these seem to be mysql specific caveats that I've certainly missed. Hopefully this helps someone else. Seems the takeaway is that, for mysql databases only, the use of utf8mb4 is recommended, and it needs to be explicitly identified in the database settings for BOTH core and web, and probably somehow at database creation time? I'll dig at that; thanks. I've just managed to get one of my Google accounts into this "broken" state, although I'm not entirely sure how I did it (or where the broken state is stored). This happened after I tried using the "Sign In" button on a list info page rather than the one in the upper right corner, but that may just be a red herring. Hi Mark, yes, we are using a local copy of the gunicorn.cfg. It is in the home directory of our mailman3 instance (like the mailman.cfg, same directory). We will now look into the postgresql database - maybe there is an index missing or something like that. Thank you for help.

If you correlate these with mailman.log, you'll probably see the server starting at these times. The fact that there is nothing in this log correlating with the Postfix message 2021-08-06T09:08:41.974225-04:00 dockerhost postfix/lmtp[109783]: D630B3083ED0: to=<test(a)mailman-docker.###.####>, relay=localhost[127.0.0.1]:8024, delay=0.11, delays=0.05/0.02/0.04/0, dsn=4.4.2, status=deferred (lost connection with localhost[127.0.0.1] while receiving the initial server greeting) seems to say that Postfix isn't really connecting to Mailman's lmtp and this is consistent with netstat -l not showing something listening on port 8024. I note you have lmtp_host: localhost in the [mta] section in mailman-extra.cfg. When you set DEBUG=False, Django doesn't serve static files because of which you see only text and no styles. http://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/pre-installation-guide.html#django-stati… If you do set DEBUG=False, you need to serve the static pages somehow. Alternatively in you case, you can remove the part of the `settings.py` which changes the Emailbackend when `DEBUG=False` so that you don't have to worry about serving static files and still send out emails. Understood, thanks. Although this distinction is very important for server admins, it's likely not meaningful for many list owners and moderators. For them, MM2.1 sent an email saying "go here" and MM3/Django/Postorius/Hyperkitty doesn't, at least not out of the box. There is some pending template in use by default, just not one with a URL included. Is this something better handled in the venv and/or Web installation docs? Yes, of course. Nginx and Apache works on the same server. (Nginx is stopped) I would like switch to Apache to add in front of hyperkitty a ldap connection. I need to re-compile nginx for this feature. It's directly available in apache with a module. Dear all, my first post was to optimistic - the user tested some other combinations and when he tries to send a signed HTML mail, the server again refuses to accept it with "Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 501 Message has defects". The user suggested that the problem is caused by a line containing only "-- " somewhere in the text, but I can not confirm this. Please find enclosed the refused mail (anonymized). [MM3-users] WSGI: gunicorn and uwsgi

Using the Ubuntu 19 packages for all the mailman suite, uwsgi is the Python WSGI server included. I have now switched over to a full build from current source from gitlab, following Mark Sapiro's excellent instructions. It would appear that the current code has the use of gunicorn built in. Is gunicorn the preferred way now to run the mailman Django apps? Is it worth spending time converting everything to use uwsgi, or should I go with the flow and use gunicorn? What are the advantages of gunicorn over uwsgi?
