Thank you very much Mark! I removed the footer and that solved the issue. It appears that there was one single quote in the footer. I didn't test, but I suspect that caused the problem. Can you go to https://lists.xxx.hu/hyperkitty/api/lists and get a response from Django REST framework which is a json representation of your mailing lists info? Nothing you publish as a DMARC policy or SPF will affect the DMARC actions of recipient domains for list mail unless you set DMARC mitigations for your lists to make the mail be From: your domain. As long as you leave the From: intact, it is the DMARC policy of the From: domain that counts, and if you make any transformation at all to the message (content filtering, subject prefixing, munging Reply-To:, etc) you will break the From: domain's DKIM signature and DMARC will fail at the receiving MTA. As far as recommendations go, what we do for this list for example is we set DMARC mitigation action to Replace From with list address and DMARC Mitigate unconditionally to No. We publish SPF "v=spf1 mx a ~all" We publish DMARC "v=DMARC1\; p=none" and we DKIM sign all our outgoing mail. Our Python.org lists are similar except we publish DMARC "v=DMARC1\; p=none\; pct=100\; rua=mailto:rxxx@dmarc.postmarkapp.com\; sp=none\; aspf=r\;" because we've signed up with postmarkapp.com for their free reporting service. I changed now DEFAULT_FROM_EMAIL to my address, restartet container and it works. Also it works if I delete the EMAIL_CONFIRMATION_FROM-line again and do not put the SERVER_EMAIL, at least for the password-reset. Can you tell the diffenrence between the 3? Would you recommend to set all 3 to my admin-mailaddress?

I now have that site behind a Cloudflare firewall, but addresses are already accessible to the bad guys. The lists.radg.us domain is the "own domain" alias for the server that hosts the list run by Mailmanlists.net. What I haven't been able to figure out is what combination of events triggers the nonmember list entry. If I delete it, it comes back > in a few days or weeks. The workaround is to just leave it in the list of nonmembers, which is effective in that no other instances of that address appear, but annoying to me. Any explanation that might help me understand would be appreciated. So, presumably, some spam was sent to a list by 66273f.99dcd9c-radg(a)lists.radg.us and a held message or rejection notice was sent to that address with envelope from bounce+66273f.99dcd9c-radg=lists.radg.us(a)stevebrown.us. Then some process received that message and maybe bounced it back to a list.
