How are you creating the template? If you are creating it via Postorius, what is your setting for POSTORIUS_TEMPLATE_BASE_URL and what does the entry in the template table in the database look like? POSTORIUS_TEMPLATE_BASE_URL should be the same URL you use to access Postorius up to but not including the `/postorius/` or `/mailman3/` part. I.e, for this list whose info page is at https://lists.mailman3.org/mailman3/lists/mailman-users.mailman3.org/, the setting is ``` POSTORIUS_TEMPLATE_BASE_URL = 'https://lists.mailman3.org' ``` -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. If the user's preferred language for the list is empty, fallback is to the user's address based settings and then to their global Mailman settings. The unsubscription message to the user is also in the user's preferred language, so that probably isn't the issue. Is the Subject message translated in your mailman/massages/de/LC_MESSAGES/mailman.po file? if so, is the corresponding mailman.mo up to date (if in doubt, use `msgunfmt` to examine it)? -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. You could use `mailman shell` to examine the setting in Mailman core, but it's unlikely that would be different from what Postorius shows. Other than that, you can look in logs, but there is not very much logged for the subscription workflow. To be more help, I'd like to know exactly when this happens. First, for Postorius Mass subscribe, this is expected. Other than that, does it happen on email to the list-join address? Does it happen with subscription via the form on the Postorius list Info page? Is it possible the user has a 'vacation' program that is responding to the confirmation request? As noted in my reply at https://lists.mailman3.org/archives/list/mailman-users@mailman3.org/message… the issue is a Mailman bug which is fixed in the next release. It has to do with the fact that the display names are RFC 2047 encoded and not the particular encoding. Actually, the fix at https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/-/merge_requests/841 depends on https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/-/merge_requests/652 which was released in Mailman 3.3.2. A complete patch for versions < 3.3.2 is attached. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Dylan

Can someone > either fix the documentation or the code? Those snippets in the documentation are doctests. That code is actually executed by unit testing and passes. In all those snippets, dump_json is passing the second argument as `data` to mailman.testing.documentation.dump_json() which in turn calls mailman.testing.documentation.call_http() which calls mailman.testing.helpers.call_api() which ultimately calls requests.request() with the same `data` argument. So basically, the issue is the difference between how requests.request() handles that `data` dictionary in creating the POST data and whatever you are doing. Possibly we could add some caveat to <https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/docs/docum…> or possibly elsewhere. Was the venv activated when you ran pip? You should also include django-mailman3 and mailmanclient in the packages to be upgraded although they are dependencies and "should" upgrade anyway. Also, at least one person has noted that --force-reinstall was required to get all dependencies upgraded <https://lists.mailman3.org/archives/list/mailman-users@mailman3.org/message…> > Secondly, it appears that the upgrade did NOT change the versions for the > upgraded components - postorius=1.3.6, hyperkitty=1.3.5, > Mailman Core Version=3.3.5. That's the main argument against it. The counter argument is you can use the browser's back button or refetch the URL without the count= fragment, but there is concern that there could be circumstances where that doesn't work. > For example, if the list has 175 entries and 25 are shown. You need to create templates in the desired language. See <http://mailman.readthedocs.io/en/latest/src/mailman/rest/docs/templates.html> That refers to setting URLs for templates which does work, but the easiest way is to put them in the default search path in Mailman's file hierarchy at $var-dir/templates/. Sitewide ones in $var-dir/templates/site/, Domain specific in $var-dir/templates/domains/ and list specific ones in $var-dir/templates/lists/. For example, a list specific, English language regular (non-digest) message footer might go in $var-dir/templates/lists/mymaillist.example.com/en/list:member:regular:footer > Is it also possible to change the language for a single list? Yes, although that is not yet exposed in Postorius. The list has a preferred_language attribute which you can set via REST or 'mailman withlist' aka 'mailman shell'. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B.
