It only seems to be Mailman 2 centric because it's been around in one form or another for over 20 years and during much of that time, there was no Mailman 3 at all. There is also a new FAQ section at <https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/faq.html>, the source for which is at <https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman-suite-doc/-/blob/master/source/faq.rst>. There is currently an incompatibility issue when following https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/install/virtualenv.html because that doc is based on the head of the GitLab branch, but `pip install mailman3` installs the 3.3.8 released version of core and the latest 6.1.0 version of importlib_resources and these are incompatible. There are two ways to fix this. The issue is Mailman core would have to keep track of the message-ids and thread number of all prior posts to know whether the current post is a reply to some other post or not. You can't have two accounts in Postorius/Django with the same email address. But why would you want to? See <https://gitlab.com/mailman/postorius/-/issues/394> for the Postorius issue. This will be fixed for Postorius in the next release. For HyperKitty, the issue is <https://gitlab.com/mailman/hyperkitty/-/issues/254>. This is not yet fixed. Currently, if FILTER_VHOST is True, HyperKitty only shows lists in the index for which the list's domain matches the domain in the accessing url with a leading 'www.' stripped. I didn't write that page, but I think it is saying that for production, installing in a virtualenv is preferred over installing globally, and not that it is necessarily preferred over installing a Docker container or a distro package.
