This would be my guess too, although, it will show MailmanApiError in logs. Do note that that gunicorn logs don’t have all the logs from exceptions raised in Postorius, for that, you want to file the location of the ‘postorius’ or ‘root’ logger in your settings.py (I couldn’t find that, it seems like you skipped those). It appears that my installation predates the mailman-web package, as I don't have it installed. But if I understand the docs correctly, it serves to take care of the django-admin commands for migration, static files, js/css compression, etc. So I think I don't need to do anything special (like add mailman-web), except a database migration after the upgrades. Also, FWIW, we do point users to Debian packages in the docs[1] and don't mind pointing users to other distro packages either. One thing I do want to clear out is that in my emails when I say "official install guide", my focus is primarily on installation using "pip". There are some distro level packages that even "pip" cannot install where we have to get specific and say, install this package when on debian/ubuntu and such. Like Steve mentioned earlier, Debian is just a part of the setup process because we rely on some packages like Postfix, Nginx, GCC etc. It is _relatively_ easy to update/maintain the "pip" installation guide for more distros where we provide instructions specific to Mailman and ask users to install the system packages that Mailman needs. My mantra with this[2] specific install guide is to be thorough enough for someone to setup latest Mailman 3, but doesn't care about which Linux distro they use, using pip on a Debian system (because that's what many of the developers use) but have enough pointers for someone using a different distro. The "default" choices are simply based on what we run and can provide some level of support for on this list. changing default preferred language of list

Hi MM community, need a little advise. We're running mailman in a Docker Container (maxking) Mailman Core Version GNU Mailman 3.3.5 (Tom Sawyer) Mailman Core API Version 3.1 Mailman Core Python Version 3.8.10 (default, May 6 2021, 06:30:44) [GCC 9.3.0] As far as I understood, it should be pretty easy. My wish: every new list we create has a default value for the preferred language: de (instead of us) Like described here: https://lists.mailman3.org/archives/list/mailman-users@mailman3.org/message… We put the values in: [mailman] default_language: de "/etc/mailman.cfg" and "/opt/mailman/mailman-extra.cfg" Nothing changes. When I create a new list via Postorius, is see the preferred language is US. Am I missing something? Is the default always US? And I have to change it manually? Cheers in advance! Paul

So I tried to do this after upgrading, fortunately only from 1 point release back, and I get "ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'paintstore'" from the collectstatic. Haven't tried to get past that point, and haven't really had the time to chase this down myself. It seems like that's referring to a requirement from several versions back, but this venv was built clean only 2 months ago so it strikes me as odd. I think each plugin has to be configured separately, such as with an API key from each service. It would be interesting to know if there is a recommended way to disable the third party logins completely.
