Isn't that the same thing as not having them in the FS? I read (and asked questions about) templates almost 10x before I got to understand the locations and how MM uses them. It's not easy to understand the ones in the FS while the ones in the DB are easy. Then again, one needs to know that Postorius only writes to the DB. I'm pretty sure you would save up to 1.5GB by switching to gunicorn vs the uwsgi configuration you have. But the uswgi project has acquired functionality the way systemd has over the last few years. It seems likely that you could configure it to save a lot of memory by removing functionality you don't use. Not sure whether than involves recompiling or just disabling unused plugins, I'm not really familiar with uwsgi, since even for the largest instances I've seen gunicorn is sufficiently performant and secure. The MySQL footprint also seems a bit high. but not insane, my PostgreSQL weighs in at about 1.2GB-1.5GB. Mailman 3 doesn't really need to know the street address of a mailman list user so I doubt you will ever see such functionality added to Mailman 3 core. Keep in mind that Mailman 3's REST API is only accessible locally. So to access Mailman 3's REST API from another server is not remotely possible. The example_projects in Postorius and HyperKitty each provide a very similar settings.py but with more extensive provision of socialauth providers. I strongly recommend you use the mailman-web settings package as a template for your own. Regarding the PostgreSQL bias, PostgreSQL is just more Mailman-friendly. We'll be happy to add more MySQL documentation, but I don't think any of the core devs use it where they have to make a choice. (For example I myself use MySQL only in my MediaWiki instance and I have done zero configuration of it.) There is at least one known gotcha for default installations of MySQL (it's terribly ungraceful when there are non-BMP UTF-8 characters), but any other warts or optimizations would be very welcome. Same thing happens to me. If I comment out all the socialauth plugins, the web service doesnt work.
