Mailman's LMTP runner used the aiosmtpd package to support LMTP. See https://aiosmtpd.readthedocs.io/en/latest/smtp.html#enabling-starttls for documentation of how to support TLS.

You would have to modify mailman/runners/lmtp.py. We would consider an appropriate merge request at <https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/-/merge_requests>.
