[MM3-users] Re: Filter who can send on mailman3 list?

Marcus, One of the MM3 bugs is the inability of list moderators to see the list of members of the list they are moderating. This in spite of MM3 having an option to allow moderators to see the list's members. The bug has been reported. My own moderators regularly request their lists and I have to log in to the server directly and use the mailman core API to get the list and then used mailx to send it to them. Forget the previous message. Thank you very much for your help, Mark. I looked at the configuration files once more, and changing POSTORIUS_TEMPLATE_BASE_URL in mailman-web.py fixed the issue for me. You can actually translate the templates in Weblate too. That is actually the whole reason to go with monolingual template format in Mailman Core. Mailman uses the template file's name as the msgid for translations and all in-tree templates are copied into English's .po file when we re-generate them. I need to find out who was knocking over my webserver every so often, so I did some cave-diving in the logs. In the process, I discovered that about 95% of vulnerability probes (attempts access to scripts not installed on my server averaging 5X/day) were coming from DigitalOcean netblocks, almost all of those from something called stretchoid.com. I've blocked the whole /18 where stretchoid lives: DROP tcp -- 192.241.192.0/18 0.0.0.0/0 Security analysts on the web have different opinions of stretchoid; some classify them as "malicious activity", others seem to think they're some sort of researcher. I think they're a PITA, and there are zero legit connections from that netblock in my logs, so "bye-bye". Now I see unexpected access attempts about 1/5 days. :-) Oh, and who *was* knocking over my server? It turned out that once a month my employer tried about 9000 different hacks in rapid sequence and it took a couple hours for the backlog to clear, so my students couldn't access their wiki accounts or my schedule page during that period. Blocked connections from the vulnerability probing host, and there have been no black helicopters over my office, so I guess that's that. :-) Steve

With your help, I have written a for loop as below which makes all the lists on my Mailman 3 box set the configuration of max_days_to_hold as 1 and of course I am successful in setting so. And the for loop is as below: *for listid in `curl -u restadmin:restpass -X GET http://localhost:8001/3.1/lists <http://localhost:8001/3.1/lists> | python -mjson.tool| grep "list_id" | awk -F"\"" '{print $4}'` * *do * * curl -u restadmin:restpass -X PATCH http://localhost:8001/3.1/lists/$listid/config <http://localhost:8001/3.1/lists/$listid/config> -d max_days_to_hold='1'* *done* With the above script I am able to set the value of max_days_to_hold as required but how to check manually and make my held messages discarded automatically which are after the specified period configured for max_days_to_hold. If I am able to do it manually I can be confident to take in to production so that the held messages after a specific period would not be appeared under "held messages" tab. Hi. I am not sure, maybe it could be another topic about header and footer, but I have met one additional issue related to that. This noticed only on HTML text messages. If message comes in HTML the header does not add extra <enter> new line, new paragraph and footer as well. For example if message body has no additional, list's decorated message looks next: TEST HEADER _____________________Hello, text text text, pictures, text regards Ugnius____________________ TEST FOOTER I have tried to add more empty lines in "The footer for a regular (non-digest) message.", but mailman removes these empty lines. Work around is put dot "." and then several empty lines.
