I have a list owner who is now going to get a moderated request notice everyday that he can't do anything about it. But my question still remains: why is this option in Postorius when it can't be handled properly? Surely the option can be easily removed, right? Is the ability to list (via the pending moderation notices tab) and handle (as in the List owner can decide a moderation response) an unsubscribe moderation request there in Mailman core so that I can properly address it via Affinity? -- Brian Carpenter Harmonylists.com Emwd.com

I was actually browsing through the perf metrics on mail.python.org and found the slowest API response from Core is handling held messages and spent some time last night trying to improve it [1]. The linked MR should significantly reduce the time, although there is more that can be done to make it even better. I haven't had a chance to benchmark my solution yet, but I am hoping it will reduce the latency quite significantly. I'll report on the linked issue [2] after deploying [1] on m.p.o. how much it helped. I had a problem for a while in the nothing to one particular list was sent to users. This had several users who's delivery status was 'disabled' (correctly, as on the old instance). If was only after a lot of fiddling (trying to delete from the list) that it started to work for the others. There are still rough edges, eg trying to delete a list member gives a server error. In /var/log/mailman3/mailman.log I see a 404: "DELETE /3.1/lists/chat.bray.phcomp.co.uk/member/a.chentouf(a)hotmail.com HTTP/1.1" 404 26 "-" "GNU Mailman REST client v3.3.5" I am not to worried about that today, will look at it in the future. `mailman qfile` on the 5 pck files that were in the /out directory looked OK, although I am not sure if I should have looked at something specific. The bak file disappeared as soon as I stopped mailman. When I started mailman again the name of the bak file had changed, and it changed every time I listed the directory.After stopping and starting mailman once more it didn't appear anymore. There are also 6 files in the shunt directory. I don't know what this directory is used for. For now I have disabled the hourly jobs.I will rebuild the search index for each mailinglist separately since the update_index was apparently killed before it finished. Those GETs are part of normal message processing. As I said, they result from core handlers asking HyperKitty for the URL at which the message will be archived so they can add that URL to the Archived-At: header and maybe to a message header or footer. Presumably the one that keeps repeating is the one message/message-id that is throwing the socket.error and being continuously retried. I would stop Mailman and move that one .pck or .bak file out of Mailman's var/queue/out/ directory and then start mailman. Thanks Mark, The omission of the code to make the examples work seems to need correction. Perhaps I can submit an update to the project. Had me scratching my head for a long time. Obviously I knew there were imports etc missing, but what to put? I have this going, and it is great. But I recall seeing something called mmclient or similar which has simple commands like show user, show lists, and so on. Is that still available? Now knowing how mailman shell works, anybody could write their own commands, but I don't want to reinvent wheels. "example.com" might be one, but that whole thing is the URL to the archive. Pedantry aside, I think we should probably have a Mailman-specific glossary for many terms, including the tests we use for validation. In this case, FQDN appears to be "sequence of characters not containing '@' or '/'." Steve
