Is that the issue or a typo in your email? whew ... that was it. After fixing the config typo, my first test message generated errors in archiver.log because I'd intentionally broken the key. The second message worked, and the first one was delivered to the archive as well once the key was fixed. So now I'll see if I can discover a way to make the setup less susceptible to that typo for those coming after me. I sure I probably induced the failure by typing the config instead of copying and pasting. Thanks so much for the second pair of eyes. I am just trying to figure out what the PRIORITIES are from the Mailman 3 developers. That's all. BTW, I still haven't figured it out. It still doesn't explain why Postfix is not recording the delivery issues which I assume has nothing to do with Mailman 3. I see successful deliveries with Postfix and bounces with Mailman 3 core. I never seen that with Mailman 2 and Exim. They always matched. If you can help me to understand that with out the petty sarcasms then that would be great. First of all I ran a 'systemctl restart mailman', which now gives expected timestamps via 'stat' on the four files. I then checked what could cause a kind of race condition (there is only one server involved): - I have logrotate configured for daily rotate (which includes a 'systemctl reload mailman') - I have the cron jobs configured for mailman-web So it could be that cron jobs for mailman-web are running at the same time when mailman-core is asked to reload after log rotation. Could this lead to a race condition? But as you said: A 'reload' should not update the files. Kind regards Torge

Maybe the solution would be to change the calls to email.sendmail like: results = self._connection.sendmail(envsender, recipients, msg.as_string(maxheaderlen=XXX) ) ? This error comes from some ios mail users after a number of answer/reply sessions; the References: in the header grow. Is this of any help?
