[MM3-users] Re: Adding Mass Subscribe custom template error

by Arte Chambers

Thanks! Looks resolved however I'm not 100% sure which steps fixed it: My Steps: ``` cat /etc/hosts 127.0.1.1 list.louisvillecommunitygrocery.com list 127.0.0.1 localhost ``` Updated ``` POSTORIUS_TEMPLATE_BASE_URL = 'http://localhost:8000/' POSTORIUS_TEMPLATE_BASE_URL = 'https://example.com' ``` Restarted mailman3 AND mailmanweb service Updated /etc/mailman3/gunicorn.conf adding workers=9 Restarted mailman3 AND mailmanweb service Deleted custom template from Postorious Created new custom template from Postorious Added test user to list User was added with no errors and also received the custom Template. Thanks Mark, Gerald Bonus question: how should I calculate how many workers I should have on my system? [MM3-users] Re: redirecting -bounces replies

by Hirayama, Pat

Thanks, Mark. I (finally) started working on this ... and in trying to implement your suggestion — ran into a problem, I think. The current postfix_vmap has entries like: list-bounces(a)lists.domain.info lmtp:[mailman-core]:24 So, when I try adding entries to a separate vmap file, like: list-bounces(a)lists.domain.info lmtp:[mailman-core]:24, user(a)gmail.com It only goes through normal bounce processing. If I do: list-bounces(a)lists.domain.info user(a)gmail.com, lmtp:[mailman-core]:24 Then it goes to the gmail address, and no bounce processing happens. I'm thinking that I can't combine two methods of delivery (LMTP + email address). Do you know if that is correct? Thanks, -p Pat Hirayama Pronouns: he/him/his Systems Engineer IT | Systems Engineering Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center O 206.667.4856 phirayam(a)fredhutch.org ________________________________ From: Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> Sent: Thursday, October 31, 2024 21:18 To: mailman-users(a)mailman3.org <mailman-users(a)mailman3.org> Subject: [MM3-users] Re: redirecting -bounces replies CAUTION: This email originated from outside of the organization. You can do the same in MM3 if you want to just deliver to a person and not to normal bounce processing, but if you want to do both, and your MTA is Postfix, you would need to add and alias domain to your lists domain and configure Postfix according to https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/l… . Then for example if your list domain is example.com and its alias domain is x.example.com, you could modify one line in the postfix_vmap file for the `listname` mappings from ``` listname-bounces(a)example.com listname-bounces(a)x.example.com ``` to ``` listname-bounces(a)example.com listname-bounces(a)x.example.com, person(a)example.com ``` and then run postmap on the file. The problem is any time you create or delete a list or run `mailman aliases` or run `mailman start` with the --generate-alias-file option, the file is regenerated and you will have to edit it again. To avoid that issue, you can create a separate vmap file containing only the ``` listname-bounces(a)example.com listname-bounces(a)x.example.com, person(a)example.com ``` entry and then add that file to virtual_alias_maps in Postfix main.cf, being sure to add it ahead of the postfix_vmap entry. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Thank you so much Mark. I appreciate your help! I dropped the list and recreated it, the default value worked for the new list. Using Mailman shell is very helpful. I checked the mailman.log and found the issue. It doesn't affect any existing list. To change this you can either update Mailman's database to set max_message_size = 0 in the entry for the list in the mailinglist table or do something like $ /opt/mailman/mm/bin/mailman shell -l list.example.com Welcome to the GNU Mailman shell Use commit() to commit changes. Yes, of course. Nginx and Apache works on the same server. (Nginx is stopped) I would like switch to Apache to add in front of hyperkitty a ldap connection. I need to re-compile nginx for this feature. It's directly available in apache with a module. In fact, a tried directly to integrade LDAP with django ( https://gitlab.com/mailman/postorius/issues/132) without results. [MM3-users] Re: Change the default value for the General Archive Policy

by Markus Grandpré

Dear Mr Sapiro, many thanks for your reply. When I create a mailing list without an archive, I’ve noticed that the default value under "Settings > Archiving > Archive policy" is always set to "Public archives". I was wondering if it's possible to change the default to "Do not archive this list" instead. Additionally, in an earlier email, you mentioned that a more convenient way to set default values would be introduced in an upcoming version. Could you please let me know the current status of that development? Many thanks in advance. [MM3-users] Re: hyperkitty failed to create a thread

by Danil Smirnov

Hi guys, I've updated my containers (though can't confirm for sure the fix is in there; but I see that the 'latest' tag of 'mailman-web' has been rebuilt in the last night). Could you advise how to rebuild the failing threads please? I've done index update with 'django-admin update_index' command but it seems irrelevant to the issue, I still have all those messages separated: https://wlug.mailman3.com/hyperkitty/list/wlug@lists.wlug.org/2019/2/ Thank you very much!
