[MM3-users] Re: Is there a way of recording bounce messages?

by Mohsen Masoudfar

I'm dealing with the same issue. Upon reviewing the logs, I've noticed a significant number of bounced emails for a particular mailing list. Gmail users have reported not receiving emails. I haven't been able to locate the "munge from" information. My current setup is using Mailman 3.1.1. I read it has been introduced in 3.2. The Question is what to do with Mailman 3.1.1, if the upgrade is not an option. I get in the logs messages like below with several Queue-ids: Sep 25 09:03:55 localhost postfix/smtpd[26692]: 147583E927: client=a14-93.smtp-out.amazonses.com[54.240.14.93] Sep 25 09:03:55 localhost postfix/cleanup[26696]: 147583E927: message-id=<0100018acb94b326-fdf39193-144e-4fdc-8faf-0d3df54eb4ee-000000(a)email.amazonses.com> Sep 25 09:03:55 localhost postfix/qmgr[1298]: 147583E927: from=<>, size=24934, nrcpt=1 (queue active) Sep 25 09:03:55 localhost postfix/lmtp[26697]: 147583E927: to=<listname-bounces@servername>, relay=127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]:8024, delay=0.03, delays=0.01/0/0/0.01, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 Ok) Sep 25 09:03:55 localhost postfix/qmgr[1298]: 147583E927: removed Mohsen ________________________________ From: Andrew Hodgson <andrew(a)hodgson.io> Sent: Friday, September 22, 2023 7:47 AM To: Andrew Hodgson <andrew(a)hodgson.io>; Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net>; mailman-users(a)mailman3.org <mailman-users(a)mailman3.org> Subject: [MM3-users] Re: Is there a way of recording bounce messages? The issue is whatever DSN is returned to the list-bounces address is not attached to the notice sent to the list owner about the disable and it should be. Ok guys the plot thickens. Yesterday using the Mailman Shell I unbounced all the users on that list. We had a couple of messages yesterday and I also enabled the From munging for all messages sent to the list partway through those messages coming to the list. This morning we got all Gmail users bounced again, with no NDR attached to the message. However on one of the messages the NDR was attached, and so I'm going to send that to Mark separately. It looks like the NDR included the information for all the bouncing messages though, and that is probably because Mailman sends the messages to all users in one SMTP transaction. [MM3-users] Re: mass subscribers disablement!?

by Christian Stalberg

Yes I upgraded to a version >=3.3.1 and had 70 subscribers disabled. Is there a way to see via the web GUI which subscribers were disabled? Correspondingly, can I re-enable delivery for them via the web GUI? Thank you in advance. -----Original Message----- From: Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> Sent: Friday, October 22, 2021 5:51 PM To: mailman-users(a)mailman3.org Subject: [MM3-users] Re: mass subscribers disablement!? See https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/commands/do cs/shell.html Something like the following session: $ bin/mailman shell Welcome to the GNU Mailman shell Use commit() to commit changes. Exit with ctrl+D does an implicit commit() but exit() does not. >>> lm = getUtility(IListManager) >>> for mlist in lm.mailing_lists: ... for member in mlist.members.members: ... if member.delivery_status == DeliveryStatus.by_bounces: ... member.preferences.delivery_status = DeliveryStatus.enabled ... print('Re-enabled delivery for bouncing member {} on list {}' ... .format(member.address.email, mlist.list_name)) ... <print output here> >>> commit() >>> exit() -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. [MM3-users] Re: DMARC Munging

by Allan Hansen

Mark, et al., I have entered a ticket at gitlab. Thanks. Is there a way for me to make this change to the From header munging until it is implemented in the production version? I made MM2 do the munging using such a change on your recommendation and it has worked. Our installation is from source, which might make it possible/easier? I have played a lot with the wrapping option and have come to the conclusion that it will not work. In some cases, the Apple Mail client for the desktop simply did not display the internal message, while iOS worked fine. The header munging is safer. See https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/-/blob/master/src/mailman/runners/outgoi…. There will be nothing in Mailman's smtp.log regarding receipt of this message because this message is not received via SMTP, but see below. Check settings documentation for more details. with the command: python venv/lib/python3.12/site-packages/mailman_web/manage.py migrate which *might* be the wrong manage.py but other than the change with the migrate command, without it looks to throw the same output. The Django log was at that time empty it's now attached (larger than I'd like). It does seem like some configuration isn't quite working. Maybe *badly* not working with some change that happened. It's not a huge deal, this is more a "fun project" for me. This part of it isn't so much fun.

Nice...spoke too soon. Mailman info works, but when attempting to start mailman I'm now getting this: Traceback (most recent call last): File "/opt/mailman3/conda/bin/mailman", line 11, in <module> sys.exit(main()) File "/opt/mailman3/conda/lib/python3.6/site-packages/click/core.py", line 722, in __call__ return self.main(*args, **kwargs) File "/opt/mailman3/conda/lib/python3.6/site-packages/click/core.py", line 676, in main _verify_python3_env() File "/opt/mailman3/conda/lib/python3.6/site-packages/click/_unicodefun.py", line 118, in _verify_python3_env 'for mitigation steps.' + extra) RuntimeError: Click will abort further execution because Python 3 was configured to use ASCII as encoding for the environment.
