If you correlate these with mailman.log, you'll probably see the server starting at these times. The fact that there is nothing in this log correlating with the Postfix message 2021-08-06T09:08:41.974225-04:00 dockerhost postfix/lmtp[109783]: D630B3083ED0: to=<test(a)mailman-docker.###.####>, relay=localhost[127.0.0.1]:8024, delay=0.11, delays=0.05/0.02/0.04/0, dsn=4.4.2, status=deferred (lost connection with localhost[127.0.0.1] while receiving the initial server greeting) seems to say that Postfix isn't really connecting to Mailman's lmtp and this is consistent with netstat -l not showing something listening on port 8024. I note you have lmtp_host: localhost in the [mta] section in mailman-extra.cfg. This isn't doing a lot for my self-esteem. I'm now trying to install mailman-web and mailman-hyperkitty. I am running as the mailman user in venv. It seems to be somehow related to the django-haystack package. In fact, running 'pip install django-haystack' results in the same error message. When you set DEBUG=False, Django doesn't serve static files because of which you see only text and no styles. http://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/pre-installation-guide.html#django-stati… If you do set DEBUG=False, you need to serve the static pages somehow. Alternatively in you case, you can remove the part of the `settings.py` which changes the Emailbackend when `DEBUG=False` so that you don't have to worry about serving static files and still send out emails. Thank you, Mark. Yes, the problem is with the mail clients which harvest addresses inappropriately (I never asked them to). I just found the header filter option, which I has been looking for under ’Settings'. Sorry for taking your time. It works great! Understood, thanks. Although this distinction is very important for server admins, it's likely not meaningful for many list owners and moderators. For them, MM2.1 sent an email saying "go here" and MM3/Django/Postorius/Hyperkitty doesn't, at least not out of the box. There is some pending template in use by default, just not one with a URL included. Is this something better handled in the venv and/or Web installation docs? Or should I file a feature request for core, or Postorious or someplace else? Thanks very much! dn > >
