Also, putting ``` LANG=en_US.UTF-8 ``` near the beginning of the crontab may be required in some cases. Thank you for the tip. In the end I changed mailman/runners/bounce.py instead by moving the maybe_forward line so that it is always run. Smaller change (just removing one indention level) and preserves the handling. You are on the right track. The "delete from bounceevent" is a perfectly acceptable solution. So is "update bounceevent set processed = true". Another way to deal with this is to set [mta] verp_probes: yes in mailman.cfg.
