If it is Mailman 3, i18n translations for Mailman core are still a work in progress, and I can't tell you how to do this. For Mailman 2.1, you will find within Mailman's file system, a messages/ directory with several 'language code' subdirectories, but not 'en'. You need to create messages/en/ and messages/en/LC_MESSAGES/ and then create the file messages/en/LC_MESSAGES/mailman.po with contents like: ---------------------------------------------------------- # SOME DESCRIPTIVE TITLE. # Copyright (C) YEAR ORGANIZATION # FIRST AUTHOR <EMAIL@ADDRESS>, YEAR. # msgid "" msgstr "" "Project-Id-Version: PACKAGE VERSION\n" "POT-Creation-Date: Sun Jun 17 12:22:07 2018\n" "PO-Revision-Date: YEAR-MO-DA HO:MI+ZONE\n" "Last-Translator: FULL NAME <EMAIL@ADDRESS>\n" "Language-Team: LANGUAGE <LL(a)li.org>\n" "MIME-Version: 1.0\n" "Content-Type: text/plain; charset=CHARSET\n" "Content-Transfer-Encoding: ENCODING\n" "Generated-By: pygettext.py 1.4\n" #: Mailman/Handlers/Hold.py:61 msgid "Post by non-member to a members-only list" msgstr "WHAT YOU WANT TO REPLACE IT WITH" ---------------------------------------------------------- with the various UPPERCASE things replaced appropriately and then 'compile' it via > msgfmt -o messages/en/LC_MESSAGES/mailman.mo messages/en/LC_MESSAGES/mailman.po -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Where these directories are depends on Mailman's layout configuration. For all layouts except `fhs` they are all in a single directory, but for `fhs` they are split. See https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/-/blob/master/src/mailman/config/mailman… Depending on exactly what's going on between the two servers, you need to decide what needs to be synced. For example, you probably don't want to sync .pid files or or the locks directory. You probably should sync archives/, cache/, data/, etc/, lists/, messages/, templates/, public_suffix_list.dat and the search engine's (Whoosh, Xapian, whatever) index files. Syncing Mailman's queue files is problematic. They are very dynamic and it isn't practical to rsync them. Yes this is an issue when first upgrading from a prior version to 3.3.1, there are lots of old unprocessed bounce events which all of a sudden get processed. See below for solutions. > When I deploy this server into production, I do not want these > recipients to be blocked as the old problems have been solved since > very long. You are on the right track. The "delete from bounceevent" is a perfectly acceptable solution. So is "update bounceevent set processed = true". Another way to deal with this is to set [mta] verp_probes: yes in mailman.cfg. This will still send a lot of probe messages which may be undesirable, but if the probes don't bounce, the user's delivery won't be disabled. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Please tell me exactly what to do to make this work. Let me know if I can provide any additional information to help you help me. As I have told you in other communications, you need a DNS A record for the mail.sbfriends.org pointing to the IP address of the Mailman server that hosts the list. We have no idea what that IP address is. You will have to ask your client what Mailman hosting service they were using for their sbfriends.org domain. That A record will probably suffice to get to the web UI for the list, but you will probably also need an MX record for the sbfriends.org domain pointing to mail.sbfriends.org for mail delivery to the list. > This is my first post to this forum, so I hope I’ve done so correctly. The correct list for Mailman 2.1 issues (http://mail.sbfriends.org/mailman/admin/quakers_sbfriends.org is a Mailman 2.1 URL) is mailman-users(a)python.org <https://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/mailman-users>. This list is for Mailman 3. There's much more detail in my reply at <https://gitlab.com/mailman/hyperkitty/-/issues/320#note_422894486>, but you can fix the ResponseNotReady() issue from the sync_mailman job by finding the entries in the hyperkitty_sender table with invalid addresses in the address column and deleting them. We can try to address this specific issue in hyperkitty_import, but there are in general various mbox defects that we can't detect. mboxes need to be checked for unescaped `From ` lines in message bodies and other defects before importing them. The Mailman 2.1 bin/cleanarch script and the new hyperkitty/contrib/check_hk_import script can help with some of this. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B.
