I can't explain why. Try the following in `mailman shell` running as user mailman ``` (venv) $ mailman shell Welcome to the GNU Mailman shell Use commit() to commit changes. Use abort() to discard changes since the last commit. Exit with ctrl+D does an implicit commit() but exit() does not. >>> import requests >>> r = requests.get( ... 'https://LISTS.MYDOMAIN.COM/mailman3/api/templates/list/MYTESTLIST.LISTS.MYD…', ... timeout=5) >>> t.text ``` Note the URL above is all on one line. This is exactly what Mailman core is doing to get the template assuming the `uri` in the template` table entry is the argument of the requests.get(). If this times out, try increasing the timeout= value. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Dylan

The daily Django hyperkitty sync_mailman job will probably do it. Or, you can figure out what REST calls saving the settings in Postorius does and do that. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. It should probably default to the list's preferred language. See <https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/issues/608> You have two choices: You can set the installation's default language by putting [mailman] default_language: zh_TW in your mailman.cfg, or you can leave the default language English and set the character set for English to utf-8 by putting [language.en] charset: utf-8 in your mailman.cfg. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. What is your Postorius version. If you want to work on providing a REST endpoint for mass subscribe and supporting it in mailmanclient and Postorius, that would be great. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. The issue is not related to message content. One possibility is that there is an incompatibility between mailman-hyperkitty >= 1.2.0 and HyperKitty <= 1.3.4. that could cause this. What are your versions? What is your setting in mailman-hyperkitty.cfg for base_url: if you append `api/` to that and do something like curl base_url/api/ it should return a page of documentation of the API. If that is the case, the issue is almost certainly communicating the api key between mailman-hyperkitty and HyperKitty -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Actually, there are better ways. I just put a simple script at https://www.msapiro.net/scripts/prune_arch3 that will delete all messages from HyperKitty with dates older than the given argument. In that composition dialog below the text box, it should say ``` This message will be sent as: user(a)example.com Link another address If you aren't a current list member, sending this message will subscribe you. ``` What the error is saying is it is checking if the sender is subscribed to the list and it finds that it is not subscribed. It wants to subscribe the sender but the list's subscription policy is "moderate" or "confirm_then_moderate" and it doesn't want to bypass moderation so it issues the error. Is the address I have shown as user(a)example.com what you expect and it it a list member? What if you click that address (it's a link) and chose another subscribed address. > What do you see in Django's logs when you do this? >> > > I don't know where to look – I don't see anything outstanding, only a few > HTTP requests appear in mailman.log on mailman side and uwsgi.log on web > side. I think you need to do something like this: $ mm/bin/django-admin shell Python 3.7.1 (default, Dec 14 2018, 13:17:01) [GCC 5.4.0 20160609] on linux Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. (InteractiveConsole) >>> from hyperkitty.models import Email >>> emails = Email.objects.all() >>> for email in emails: ... if email.content.find('\u200b'*5) >= 0: ... print('Found in ml {}, hash {}'.format( ... email.mailinglist.name, ... email.message_id_hash)) ... >>> _NAME/message/HASH/ This will print the mailing list and message id hash for messages found that contain at least 5 U+200B Unicodes in a row. You may need to adjust the '\u200b'*5 if it doesn't find anything. Once you know the list and hash you can go to something like https://example.com/hyperkitty/lists/LIST_NAME/message/HASH/ to see the message in the archive and delete it. Before deleting it, you might want to 'download' it. I'd be interested in seeing that to see if I can understand the issue better and why the patches don't work to solve it. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. This is <https://gitlab.com/mailman/hyperkitty/issues/134>. See <https://lists.mailman3.org/archives/list/mailman-users@mailman3.org/> for what it should look like. I'm not sure why it's empty in your case.
