You could use `mailman shell` to examine the setting in Mailman core, but it's unlikely that would be different from what Postorius shows. Other than that, you can look in logs, but there is not very much logged for the subscription workflow. To be more help, I'd like to know exactly when this happens. First, for Postorius Mass subscribe, this is expected. Other than that, does it happen on email to the list-join address? Does it happen with subscription via the form on the Postorius list Info page? Is it possible the user has a 'vacation' program that is responding to the confirmation request? As noted in my reply at https://lists.mailman3.org/archives/list/mailman-users@mailman3.org/message… the issue is a Mailman bug which is fixed in the next release. It has to do with the fact that the display names are RFC 2047 encoded and not the particular encoding. Actually, the fix at https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/-/merge_requests/841 depends on https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/-/merge_requests/652 which was released in Mailman 3.3.2. In all those snippets, dump_json is passing the second argument as `data` to mailman.testing.documentation.dump_json() which in turn calls mailman.testing.documentation.call_http() which calls mailman.testing.helpers.call_api() which ultimately calls requests.request() with the same `data` argument. So basically, the issue is the difference between how requests.request() handles that `data` dictionary in creating the POST data and whatever you are doing. Possibly we could add some caveat to <https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/docs/docum…> or possibly elsewhere. It is due to a (new) message in your archive that contains a 'word' longer than 245 characters. I don't know if upgrading Mailman core would avoid the error or not. As I indicated, it's almost certainly not a REST timeout after all. We need to understand what causes the error. As I've said, the sync_mailman goes through the message senders and tries to set the senders mailman_id. If you apply the attached patch to hyperkitty/models/sender.py, it will log the error and ignore it.
