I'm aware of the subscription policies > but there is no block or reject/discard option. You can't do this with list settings. Depending on your MTA, you might be able to set it to reject mail to the list-join and list-subscribe addresses. For example with Postfix you will probably have in main.cf ``` transport_maps = hash:/opt/mailman/mm/var/data/postfix_lmtp ``` You don't want to edit the postfix_lmtp file because that gets frequently regenerated, but you could create a mapping, say a file /path/to/rejects containing ``` list-join(a)example.com error:5.7.1 Mail rejected due to policy list-subscribe(a)example.com error:5.7.1 Mail rejected due to policy ``` and hash it with ``` postmap hash:/path/to/rejects ``` and then modify the transport_maps setting ``` transport_maps = hash:/path/to/rejects hash:/opt/mailman/mm/var/data/postfix_lmtp ``` -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. If you mean <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xIcSsoNFp2nHi7r4eQys00s9a0k2sHhu1V5Plan…>, that talks about the Debian/Upuntu package installation and that package is quite behind the current releases. I thought that after mush back and forth with you following <https://wiki.list.org/DOC/Mailman%203%20installation%20experience> you got Mailman 3 up and running, so why would you now be trying to install the Debian/Ubuntu package? If you have issues with the <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xIcSsoNFp2nHi7r4eQys00s9a0k2sHhu1V5Plan…> document, you should contact its author. The bounce you saw From: Mailman mailman(a)example.com To: Mailman Bounces mailman-bounces(a)example.com Subject: SMTP Delivery Failure may have sent because you have VERP probes enabled (verp_probes: yes in the mta section of mailman.cfg) and a user on some list reached the bounce score threshold and a Mailman attempted to send a probe and the MTA refused the message, or it may have been sent because Mailman attempted to send a message to the user and the MTA refused it. In either case, the bounce message (fake DSN) should have contained a message body like Mail to user(a)example.com failed at outgoing SMTP with the actual user's address. These fake DSNs are sent in the case where the outgoing MTA refuses a message from Mailman so there is no actual failure DSN. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. There are two possibilities here. Either the sender's non-member record has a moderation action of accept or default processing, or even though the From: address is a non-member, one of the envelope from or the Sender: or Reply-To: headers is a member. See the mailman.email.message.Message.senders method at https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/-/blob/master/src/mailman/email/message.…. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems to me that if /usr/lib/python3.6 and /user/bin/python3.6 are gone, just creating symlinks from /usr/lib/python3.6 and /user/bin/python3.6 to the corresponding python3.8 directories would work. The .pyc files in __pycache__ should not be an issue. They are versioned and placed in a __pycache__ directory specifically so multiple python versions can coexist. See <https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-3147/>. Python3.8 will just make new ones. If there is some issue with this, one can always do ``` find /path/to/venv -name '*.pyc' -delete ``` -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Correct. If Send Digest Periodically is Yes, any accumulated digest will be sent when `mailman digests --periodic` runs, regardless of size. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. A look at the source at https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/-/blob/master/src/mailman/chains/hold.py… says the template is list:admin:action:post. > Is it possible to filter out UTF-8 chars from the templates when they are saved in Postorius? Not really. Postorius would have to know the character set of the list's preferred_language in order to filter anything from the template that wasn't a valid character in that character set, and I don't think it has a way to get that information from Mailman core. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B.
