I don't understand what you mean here. In MM 2.1 a member had only one setting - moderated yes or no and if moderated there was a list setting for the moderation action. There was also a list setting for whether new members were moderated by default. How were you setting the new member's moderation when subscribing? You are correct that when subscribing a new member, the member gets the default action for members and different action has to be set in a separate operation. I don't think this is significantly different from MM 2.1. If this is in fact Mailman 3, the var/ directory referred to at <https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/issues/426#note_43861203> is probably not /var/, It is Mailman's var directory as configured by var_dir in mailman.cfg and the template you're interested in is list:user:notice:hold.txt. If this is cPanel's Mailman 2.1, you can edit the template through Mailman's web admin interface. Go to "Edit the public HTML pages and text files" in the upper right and then select "User notice of held post". However, in either case, the "post by nonmember" reason is a replacement, so if you edit the template to put different text there, it will apply to all reasons. What are you expecting to see in Postorius? All you can see is if a member's delivery status is Disabled by Bounces. Things like Bounce score are not available in Postorius. What notices are sent depends on the settings in the Bounce Processing section in Postorius. For example, if your message logged by postfix was spam to the <company-newsletter-bounces(a)lists.company.tld> address that is not recognized as a DSN and `Forward unrecognized bounces` is Discard, the message will be silently discarded. I think the OP wants to delete Mailman users that are not members of any lists even if there is no corresponding Django user. That script won't do that. Mailman Users can be deleted from the Postorius Users view, but it's a one at a time process, and there's no indication that the User has memberships unless you first go to `Manage` to check. Mailman 2.1 lists have attributes named accept_these_nonmembers, hold_these_nonmembers, reject_these_nonmembers and discard_these_nonmembers. These are lists of non-member addresses and regexps matching addresses, and posts from a non-member address in one of the lists will be accepted, held, rejected or discarded respectively. Mailman 3 does this differently. An address can be a non-member and that non-member record has a moderation setting to determine how a post from that non-member is handled. An address can become a non-member by being imported from Mailman 2.1 or by posting to the list. If a non-member posts to the list, a non-member record is created regardless of the disposition of the post. If you set the password with the Django admin changepassword command, does it stick? I'm not sure what the issues are now with a pip install. There is a 3rd option.
