It only seems to be Mailman 2 centric because it's been around in one form or another for over 20 years and during much of that time, there was no Mailman 3 at all. There is also a new FAQ section at <https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/faq.html>, the source for which is at <https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman-suite-doc/-/blob/master/source/faq.rst>. Merge requests to add to that are also welcome. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Dylan

There is currently an incompatibility issue when following https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/install/virtualenv.html because that doc is based on the head of the GitLab branch, but `pip install mailman3` installs the 3.3.8 released version of core and the latest 6.1.0 version of importlib_resources and these are incompatible. There are two ways to fix this. The easy way is to downgrade importlib_resources in your venv with ``` pip install importlib_resources\<6.0 ``` The slightly more complex way is to upgrade mailman core to 3.3.9b1 from GitLab with ``` pip install -U git+https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman.git ``` -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. The issue is Mailman core would have to keep track of the message-ids and thread number of all prior posts to know whether the current post is a reply to some other post or not. You would need a new database table or some other mechanism to keep track of this and then you may need to keep everything forever because you can't know that there won't be a future post in reply to some very old post. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. It's the same user database, and >email addresses are accepted as identifying a unique User object in >the database for authentication and authorization purposes in Django. That is correct. You can't have two accounts in Postorius/Django with the same email address. But why would you want to? There should be no problem with a single Django user being subscribed to a list with more than one role. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> Sent from my Not_an_iThing with standards compliant, open source software.

See <https://gitlab.com/mailman/postorius/-/issues/394> for the Postorius issue. This will be fixed for Postorius in the next release. For HyperKitty, the issue is <https://gitlab.com/mailman/hyperkitty/-/issues/254>. This is not yet fixed. Currently, if FILTER_VHOST is True, HyperKitty only shows lists in the index for which the list's domain matches the domain in the accessing url with a leading 'www.' stripped. E.g. list(a)example.com will only show on the index if the accessing URL's host is example.com or www.example.com, but not if it is say lists.example.com. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Does the "pip > install mailmail" install a production environment I can trust? I didn't write that page, but I think it is saying that for production, installing in a virtualenv is preferred over installing globally, and not that it is necessarily preferred over installing a Docker container or a distro package. However, if you actually read the Virtualenv Installation document, you will see under Installing Mailman Core <https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/install/virtualenv.html#installing-mail…> it says to install Mailman core via `pip install mailman` in the virtualenv. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. I would d delete rows from 3 tables. I would first SELECT * from message WHERE path = 'XC/DU/XCDUNGGCTVSN7RGCW5F3WXM5T2WEHCCJ'; then SELECT * from pendedkeyvalue WHERE type = 'id AND value = <the id of the message table>; Then SELECT * from pendedkeyvalue WHERE pended_id = <the pended_id from above>; This should return 2 rows, the type = id from above and a type = 'held message' Then I would delete the row from the pended table with id = that pended_id and the two rows from the pendedkeyvalue table and the row from the message table. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Compare your urls.py to <https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman-web/-/blob/master/mailman_web/urls.py?re…>. Some of the `path` settings are probably not in the same order as in that file. The ``` path('mailman3/', include('postorius.urls')), path('archives/', include('hyperkitty.urls')), ``` settings should come after the ``` path('postorius/', include('postorius.urls')), path('hyperkitty/', include('hyperkitty.urls')), ``` settings (unfortunately, mailman-web 0.0.8 has these in the wrong order). Or you can just delete the 'postorius/' and 'hyperkitty/' ones or you can add ``` ProxyPass "/postorius" "http://127.0.0.1:8000/postorius" ProxyPass "/hyperkitty" "http://127.0.0.1:8000/hyperkitty" ``` to your Apache config. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B.
