Mail Delivery is to Mailman's lmtp runner which uses the LMTP class in aiosmtpd <https://aiosmtpd.readthedocs.io/en/latest/> to create an LMTP server which listens for tcp connection on lmtp_host:lmtp_port. You would have to modify mailman/runners/lmtp.py to listen on a unix socket. It would help if you could detect this duplication when it happens and try to get more information. The problem is I can't see how to do that. I would start by adding some logging to the patch_put method of the ListArchivers class in mailman/rest/lists.py to log the list and the request. Note that the prototype archiver, if enabled, stores messages in the file system in maildir format. Normally a list admin can select which of the enabled archivers is active for that list via Postorius. To prevent this, you would have to modify Postorius. If by 'individualsation was enabled' you mean messages were VERPed, there could be a bug here. There are a couple of considerations. First the vacation responder should not respond to list messages. See <https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5230.html#section-4.6>. That said, bounce processing should treat even a VERPed message as unrecognized if it doesn't look like some kind of DSN.
