You might try this one - https://wiki.list.org/x/17892316 which should take you to the top of the GSOC page. If that times out, it could be some kind of firewall issue at your end. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. It should be possible for a domain owner to create a list in that domain, but currently I don't think it is. > What are those Django permissions for...? Is there a use for them? Those permissions correspond to database tables, and I think they allow actions on those tables through the django admin UI. They do not (currently at least) allow any Postorius or HyperKitty UI actions. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. It is /var/www/mailman-www/urls.py. That file probably has contents like ``` from django.conf.urls import include, url from django.contrib import admin from django.urls import reverse_lazy from django.views.generic import RedirectView urlpatterns = [ url(r'^$', RedirectView.as_view( url=reverse_lazy('list_index'), permanent=True)), url(r'^postorius/', include('postorius.urls')), url(r'^hyperkitty/', include('hyperkitty.urls')), url(r'', include('django_mailman3.urls')), url(r'^accounts/', include('allauth.urls')), # Django admin url(r'^admin/', admin.site.urls), ] ``` That needs to be changed to ``` from django.contrib import admin from django.urls import include, reverse_lazy, re_path from django.views.generic import RedirectView urlpatterns = [ re_path(r'^$', RedirectView.as_view( url=reverse_lazy('list_index'), permanent=True)), re_path(r'^postorius/', include('postorius.urls')), re_path(r'^hyperkitty/', include('hyperkitty.urls')), re_path(r'', include('django_mailman3.urls')), re_path(r'^accounts/', include('allauth.urls')), # Django admin re_path(r'^admin/', admin.site.urls), ] ``` -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Which works until someone who wants to post to or spam the list realizes that all they need to do is spoof the From: address to be one of the addresses that sent posts that they received. A more secore, but more tedious solution is to set the authorized poster's moderation action to hold and then approve valid posts. Or leave everyone's moderation action at list default and post with an Approved: <password> (pseodo)header. The current design of Mailman core does not remove the user when the user unsubscribes from a list, even if it is their only subscription. We know you don't like this behavior, but there are reasons for it. On the other hand, when a user removes their account, the circumstance is different and we do remove the user's information in this case because that's what the user asked for. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. It only affects the delay before killing a worker when gunicorn is restarted, but I suppose it won't hurt. > # Timeout for the requests. > timeout = 900 I wonder if this is really the issue. Do you have tracebacks from these timeouts? I think there may be something else causing this that increasing the timeout won't solve. Maybe some database locking deadlock or similar issue. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Dylan

I can write a python script to import the data. I am at the end of completion of a fully pyhton based modern hosting control panel ( better than cpanel ) and at the final stage of backup and restore procedure. Mailman core's database is defined in the `database` section of mailman.cfg. ``` mailman conf -s database ``` The database for HyperKitty, Postorius, django_mailman3 and other Django modules is defined in the `DATABASES` dictionary in Django's settings. Normally these define the same database as the tables don't conflict. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Does anyone know how email clients are doing this? I have users who email clients do not do this, and was wondering if it is a setting in their client or just not possible. This looks like Mailman adding 'Subject prefix', so all list mail will have this prefix added to the Subject:. So the question isn't how mail clients are adding it, but rather why do some mail clients suppress it. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B.
