If you set the subscription policy to 'Confirm, then moderate' the user will receive a confirmation request based on the list:user:action:subscribe template whether or not the address is verified. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. [MM3-users] Re: Template - "You can use these variables in the templates" - The variable for "leave" is missing

See https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/rest/docs/… for information on the variables that can be used in templates. There you will see the variable for "the mailing list’s short description text" is `description`. This is missing from the list displayed in Postorius which needs updating for this and other reasons, e.g. $hyperkitty_url is only available in regular headers and footers. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. [MM3-users] Re: migrating Mailman to a new server

On 10/2/25 09:16, Christian Stalberg via Mailman-users wrote: > What are the steps for migrating a half dozen lists with subscribers from an > old server (Debian 10) to a new server (running Debian 13) please? You are still hijacking threads. Please post new topics as a new message to the list and not as a reply to an existing message. Take a look at https://lists.mailman3.org/archives/list/mailman-users@mailman3.org/thread/… to see the results of thread hijacking. To answer your question, copy the `mailman` (and `mailman-web` if they are separate) databases. If the database manager versions are different, this probably should be done by dumping the database(s) on the old server and loading them on the new server. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. I did in fact see your screen shots in my direct copy, but I am unable to determine what your issue is except there may be some domain confusion between mailing.hatlab.fr and hatlab.fr. And in what section is this put? I.e. if the last preceding section header is not [mailman], the default_language: en is in a section where it doesn't belong. Or are you saying that you had set the server default_language to something other than 'en' and the above is intended to change it to 'en'. In that case, look at var/templates/en and ensure it and subordinates are user:group list:list -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Outlook and friends (Hotmail, Live, MSN. ...) can be a real pain. If you're not aware, start at <https://sender.office.com/>. Also, this requires patience. It may take several back and forth emails, some of which ask questions which have already been answered earlier in the quoted thread, but in every case where I've persisted, the block has ultimately been removed. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. However, only a few [OPTIONS] can be set via command line. Create the list via the command line `mailman create` and specify the desired style, e.g. `private-default` for a list with `advertised = False`, `archive_policy = ArchivePolicy.private` and `subscription_policy = SubscriptionPolicy.confirm_then_moderate`. See https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/styles/doc… for some info on styles and see https://gitlab.com/mailman/example-mailman-plugin for information on creating a plugin to configure additional list styles. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B.
