[MM3-users] Re: Mailing list name with capital letters?

by Mark Sapiro

On 9/26/23 12:00, Mark London wrote: > I guess this is not possible? If you mean create a list with upper case in it's list_id or list posting address, you are correct, but since in your OP you said "Right now, only the first letter can be capitalized." you must be talking about the list's display name. That can be set in Postorius at Settings -> List Identity per my reply at <https://lists.mailman3.org/archives/list/mailman-users@mailman3.org/message…>. It can also be set via REST or mailman shell. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Dylan

[MM3-users] Re: Disable automatic bouncing globally?

by Mark Sapiro

On 10/27/25 19:13, jkoral(a)luc.edu wrote: > Is there a way to disabled the automatic bouncing globally on all lists or do I have to do that on each individual list? There is no global setting, but you could use mailman shell to turn it off for all lists. E.g.: ``` $ mailman shell Welcome to the GNU Mailman shell Use commit() to commit changes. Use abort() to discard changes since the last commit. Exit with ctrl+D does an implicit commit() but exit() does not. >>> for mlist in getUtility(IListManager): ... mlist.process_bounces = False ... >>> commit() ``` -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Your domain is a virtual_mailbox_domain. You need to configure an alias_domain for your list domain and configure Postfix per https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/mailman/en/latest/src/mailman/docs/mta.h… -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. I hav looked at all the py and cfg files where the old name appeared, and they no longer hold the old name. My coadmin now tells me that the database has a table with the old name. Any suggestion as to whether that can cause the issue and if it’s safe to change the table. Look in Mailman's var/templates/directory. I suspect you have a site/en/ subdirectory with templates containing the old name. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. I think restarting Mailman core seems to get things running again. When this happens is the LMTP runner still running or has it died?. Is there anything relevant in mailman.log regarding lmtp runner? -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Dylan

[MM3-users] Re: Language Support In Templates

by Mark Sapiro

Mark Sapiro wrote: > > This is a bug in Postorius. I just reported it at > https://gitlab.com/mailman/postorius/-/issues/465. I have deleted that bug report as it appears the language attribute in the postorius_emailtemplate table is unused anyway. Notices built from templates are sent by core in the appropriate charset, that of the list's preferred language for admin notices and the either the user's or the list's preferred language for user notices. (Un)sibscribe confirmations are sent in the list's preferred language. In Brian's case the (default) charset for Greek is UTF-8, so if the template was encoded as UTF-8 and the list's preferred language was Greek, it should not have been garbled.

[MM3-users] Re: How To Install Mailman 3 on Debian 10 (Complete Guide)

Or even the latest stable releases from PyPI installed with pip which is what Brian's guide covers. Mailman 3 is relatively new and still evolving. Even the latest packages in Debian sid, not to mention buster, are in some cases behind the PyPI releases. The packages from Debian buster are considered 'stable' but have issues which are fixed in the current PyPI releases. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Your original dbug logs seem to show no issue with postgresql. I don't think people on this list can be much help for installing the Debian package on YunoHost. As I said earlier, I would go first to YunoHost for help and then to Debian if necessary. If you want help from us, I recommend installing as documented at https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/install/virtualenv.html -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B.
