It is almost certainly that there is a /usr/share/mailman3-web/settings_local.pyc that is as new or newer than the /usr/share/mailman3-web/settings_local.py symlink even though it is older than the target /etc/mailman3/mailman-web.py. Just remove that .pyc, and that should fix it. But I still wonder what python version this is since current Mailman requires python >= 3.6 -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Now you have to start Mailman Core. In your Python 3 'env' where you installed Mailman Core, run 'bin/mailman start'. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. If you want Django (i.e. Postorius, Hyperkitty and Django admin/auth/etc.) to deliver via localhost, you don't need EMAIL_HOST_USER and EMAIL_HOST_PASSWORD. Those are only for authentication to some other host. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Dylan

On 6/21/19 6:32 AM, mailman3(a)malevil.cc wrote: > but that means you have to login first and need a password, ok. That is not very convenient, so I think about setting up a simple (external) form where users can enter their emailaddress and its then used to send a message to list-leave(a)example.com. That would certainly work, but you should ensure that the list's unsubscription_policy is not 'open' so people can't unsubscribe others without their knowledge. The default policy is 'confirm' so it should be OK if you haven't changed it. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. You need to set 'OPTIONS': {'charset': 'utf8mb4'} in the DATABASES['default'] definition in your django settings. I'm not sure if this overrides the various collation, etc. settings in the DB or not, but it wouldn't hurt to update the DB. -- Mark Sapiro <mark(a)msapiro.net> The highway is for gamblers, San Francisco Bay Area, California better use your sense - B. Documentation is at https://asynchronous.in/docker-mailman/ See https://asynchronous.in/docker-mailman/web/#running for creating a Django superuser.
