This is processed by the code at <https://gitlab.com/mailman/postorius/-/blob/master/src/postorius/views/list…>. If no selection has been made, the default value POSTed for moderation_choice is `no-action` and that code is skipped. If it is one of the choices `Hold for moderation`, `Reject (with notification)`, `Discard (no notification)`, `Accept immediately (bypass other rules)` or `Default processing` that is processed. So presumably a selection has been made and processing is stuck on getting the member or setting the member's moderation action. sqlite3 Database "read only" error on mailman_sync job

Hi. All the project installation is under the same user / path and it works. Archiving working as well, (just one remark: no matter what to set in postorius, hyperkitty shows list as public) I have found work around - it is possible to change list as private in "admin" page. I started to get issues with runjobs after I have created couple of new lists with "no archive" option. If as owner user from project home I run: django-admin mailman_sync Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/user/.local/lib/python3.5/site-packages/django/db/backends/utils.py", line 84, in _execute return self.cursor.execute(sql, params) File "/home/user/.local/lib/python3.5/site-packages/django/db/backends/sqlite3/base.py", line 383, in execute return Database.Cursor.execute(self, query, params) sqlite3.OperationalError: attempt to write a readonly database "django-admin runjob sync_mailman " - makes read only errors as well. "django-admin runjob new_lists_from_mailman" django.db.utils.OperationalError: attempt to write a readonly database END TRACEBACK I did not find information how to fix this. It was worked without errors before. I noticed, that if I stop mailman, "django-admin mailman_sync" starts to work. If I start "mailman start", then "django-admin mailman_sync" failing again. I did not check other jobs, but I think what is related to database, will get errors. Seems mailman locking the database. It is not a file permissions issue. Mailman db location is: /project_directory/var/data/mailman.db if to rename /project_directory/var/data/mailman.db to something, mailman creates database file size 0, django-admin runjobs start working, but of course postorius stops working. I did it for testing. I have returned this database file back, postorius started to work again, but django-admin runjobs does not work, error: "database read only". Please help me how to fix this issue.

CSS Hyperkitty ERROR

Hi, i installed mailman3 with virtualenv, all is working fine, the admin site works fine, the mailman(postorious) site works fine, but when im in hyperkitty the site shows without the css style.. in my web browser dev tool it shows like they loaded ok.. Here you can see what i see when loading hyperkitty https://freeimage.host/i/3n6kXKQ and mailman(postorius) https://freeimage.host/i/mailman.3n6kVix When i run my server with verbosity it shows like all is loading ok: https://freeimage.host/i/3n6SViG Any ideas? :/ My static files are loading from /static/CACHE/css/output.a0f71925131b.css and /static/hyperkitty/libs/fonts/font-awesome/css/font-awesome.min.css It seems like the real error are in the /static/CACHE files, because hyperkitty is the only one who load files from this directory.. postorius uses /static/postorius and all the css files are working fine. I checked permissions for the directory, cleared cache, etc.. i dont know what to do. This is my config for staticfiles: STATIC_URL = 'static/' STATIC_ROOT = os.path.join(BASE_DIR, 'staticfiles') STATICFILES_DIRS = [ os.path.join(BASE_DIR, 'static'), '/opt/mailman/projectes/mailman3web/static/CACHE', Thank you so much in advance.

Introducing Mailman Web project

I have been working on a new sub-project Mailman Web[1][2]. This project basically combines Postorius and Hyperkitty together in a single package which you can easily use to serve Mailman's web interface. The basic motivation behind this was to make it simpler for people to install the web interface *and* make it easier for people to configure Mailman's web ui. Both Postorius and Hyperkitty are based on Django Web Framework, which uses settings.py as its default configuration language. While it is quite convenient for Python developers to be able to put Python statements in configuration to join/edit/configure settings. However, I think a traditional INI, or TOML style configuration is easier for non-developers without having to worry about PYTHONPATH, valid Python sytax etc, etc. For this reason, I decided to combine all the projects together into a Django project which can be easily installed and run: $ pip install mailman-web # Export Settings for commands to just work. $ export DJANGO_SETTINGS=mailman_web.settings $ django-admin migrate $ django-admin runserver This should get you default settings for running. If you want to customize your installation, which you almost always would need to in a prod environment, you can create a config file at one of these locations (which are searched in following order): - /etc/mailman-web.toml - /etc/mailman3/mailman-web.toml - ./mailman-web.toml Note that we support only TOML as the configuration language[3][4] because of its simplicity. I would have loved to use INI, like Mailman Core, but it turns out to be way too simple to represent more complex data structures like maps and tables, that is commonly used in Django's Settings. This project is currently in alpha stage (I created it today!), but can be installed with pip[5] and in my basic tests works. There isn't much in the project itself beyond some configurations. I also took this opportunity to document all the settings that are used in Mailman Web (both Postorius and Hyperkitty) together[6]. This is documented in code and so I really hope that it won't go out of date like many other places ;-) Improvements to docs is very welcome, just a modification of a comment and is quite easy to propose right in your web browser using Gitlab! Wow, thanks for the very thorough response, Steve. I should have started by saying that when we built the current production server, we cloned it off the test server and we were thinking now to move the data onto another clone of the old test server. So, yes we would have to apply all the changes we made since we cloned the current production server, but everything else as far as the OS is concerned should be comparable (webserver, MTA, Mailman core, Django, Hyperkitty, Postorius). That's why I was just asking about the "data" aspects of mailman/hyperkitty/postorius. What would I have to move to replicate all the lists on the current production server to a new clone of the original test server once we've applied any changes we made to production server since the clone. ________________________________ From: Stephen J. That's going to vary depending on the way your existing server is set up. A Mailman 3 instance is a complex system of cooperating applications. Assuming you have not patched or added any Python code, typical configuration and customizations include 1. Your webserver (Apache, nginx are most common) needs configuration to handle WSGI applications and may need modules enabled or installed for the WSGI server. This is usually installed as an OS distro package, and the configurations will live in /etc/apache2 or similar for another webserver. Depending on other content served by the two hosts you may have to edit the configuration on the new host rather than copy it from the old one. 2. The WSGI server is typically a separate application, although there is an Apache module for this. Gunicorn is a Python application usually installed via pip. I like to keep its Django configuration, which I call gunicorn.conf.py, in /etc/mailman3. (Mailman core also uses gunicorn, but that is transparent to you, it should not need custom configuration.) uwsgi is a C or C++ application normally supplied as a distro package. Don't know where it keeps its config files but since it's a distro package my first guess is /etc/uwsgi. 3. Your MTA, usually Postfix or Exim4, maybe Sendmail or qmail needs to be configured to route mail to Mailman, and apply any milters, signatures, and perhaps anti-yahoo configurations such as ARC. 4. Your database server, usually PostgreSQL or MySQL. 5. Mailman core has a single configuration file mailman.cfg, which I keep in /etc/mailman3. It also has a crontab, which in Debian- derived systems typically lives in the file /etc/cron.d/mailman3. Note that this could be implmented as a systemd timer, but I don't know if any distros do that. 6. Django, Postorius, and HyperKitty together constitute the mailman-web subsystem. I strongly recommend you use the mailmanweb Python package to manage Django and its applications. In any case I am not familiar with other organizations of those packages, so I'm going to assume it. If you are not using mailmanweb, you will need to be careful because most subpackages in the Django subsystem name their configuration files settings.py, urls.py, and views.py just like top-level, and distinguish them by using Python's attribute notation (eg, postorius.urls). a. Django application configuration for Postorius and HyperKitty goes in settings.py, which I put in /etc/mailman3. b. Django site configuration for Postorius and HyperKitty goes in urls.py (the routing configuration mapping URLs to views) and views.py (mapping views to Python code). I put these in /etc/mailmn3. c. Full-text indexing for HyperKitty. Default is Whoosh (a Python application) whose configuration goes in Django's settings.py. I prefer Xapian, which requires a separate application (Debian and Ubuntu have packages), but the needed configuration can be done in the top-level settings.py. 7. Template customization. If you have any customized templates for Mailman's email or Django's views, you'll need to copy and move them too. I haven't customized email, but Django's page templates can be kept separately with a path variable set in settings.py. I put them in a hierarchy under /etc/mailman3/templates. Maybe Mailman core has a similar setting? 8. Transient files. Aside from code and configuration, everything in Django is in the RDBMS, there are be no random files strewn around as far as I know. Mailman core is another matter. You can hope that all Mailman transient files are in its "var" hierarchy. $var_dir (the setting in mailman.cfg or inherited from schema.cfg) is the root of this hierarchy. I set var_dir=/opt/mailman/var, I think Mark may use var_dir=/opt/mailman/mm/var. I would guess that FHS-conformant distros would likely use var_dir=/var/lib/mailman3. a. The queue directories $var_dir/queue/* should be empty. Shut down the incoming mail and let mailman run until it's clear. (Normally takes < 5 seconds.) The exceptions are the shunt and bad queues, which are messages that Mailman doesn't know what to do with. With the venv active, run "mailman unshunt" to attempt to clear the shunt queue. Move anything that's left in shunt as well as any .bak or .tmp files into the bad queue for later treatment. These can be copied to the bad queue in the new instance. Use "mailman qfile <file>" to examine them to see if they can be deleted. b. I think the only stuff that ends up in the $var_dir/lists/* directories are digests being built for later distribution. Use the usual tools to send them off or copy them over to the new instance. c. There should be nothing in $var_dir/archives/hyperkitty/spool, which is temporary storage for messages to be archived. That is, it should get cleared up by the few seconds while incoming mail is stopped and outgoing messages are being processed. If there's anything still there, stash it away for later examination using "mailman qfile". (Don't put it in queue/bad or queue/archive though, this is a different process from the normal pipeline.) I think that's about it. Steve

I know FreeBSD has a mailam3 port, but I have mailman2 in production and the port installs to /usr/local/mailman so I have to be careful - install mailman3 in /opt, then plan on hosing mailan2 and moving mailman3 to it's place after migration.
