CVE-2021-40347: New security release for Postorius

Everyone, A security vulnerability was reported against Postorius recently which allows any logged-in user to unsubscribe any other member on any other list on same Mailman installation using a specially crafted POST request due to a missing ownership check. This has been assigned CVE-2021-40347. This affects all past versions of Postorius including 1.0.0. Thanks to Kunal Mehta for the security report and a quick patch to fix the vulnerability. I am also attaching a minimal patch that fixes it along with this email, without tests and NEWS so that it applies to older versions of Postorius easily (I have tested the included patch with 1.3.3, 1.3.2 git tags). Upgrading to 1.3.5 release is highly recommended and it mostly includes the fix for this vulnerability (and a small compatibility fix for django-mailman3 1.3.6) so it shouldn’t introduce any other bugs. You can upgrade to this release by running: $ pip install postorius==1.3.5 A full change log is available here[1] as usual and can be downloaded from PyPI[2]. Dropdown problem in postorius due to bootstrap

(My first post) As has been observed, the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS packaging for native Mailman3 can be challenging. I've been solving all kinds of issues, and I'm writing here about something I've so far been unable to solve. The problem: *In Postorius, dropdown menus are not working*. I.e., as a list admin you can click on a menu option like "Users" or "Mass operations," and nothing happens. As a regular user, the top-right icon to manage settings and logout does not do anything. The same behavior occurs regardless of which browser I use. The dropdown in HyperKitty works, and HyperKitty uses a different code base. In the browser developer console (Firefox & others), the error is: “Uncaught TypeError: n.createPopper is not a function.” I've dug deeply into this. The relevant <script> is bootstrap.min.js. Certificate: ... Letsencrypt cannot deliver this match for "localhost", it is impossible to configurate letsencrypt to do so. The running script must create a postgres INSERT database command which includes the correct domain-name including the correct path .../mailman3/api/templates .... and not ... postorius/api/.... I dont know, where is the place to correct this. - in mailman-web.py ?? ... ALLOWED_HOSTS ... Ann: Postorius 1.3.6 is now out

Hey Everyone, I just tagged and released Postorius 1.3.6. This release includes both bug fixes and new features. Some of the notable features include - Ability to list and handle un-subscription requests to the list - Option to choose delivery mode and delivery_status directly when subscribing to a list - Addition of a user management interface, which allows updating a users password, manually verifying their email addresses, update user’s Display Name etc. - Expose a number of Bounce processing related options in List’s settings A full list of changes is available here https://docs.mailman3.org/projects/postorius/en/latest/news.html#news-1-3-6 You can install this release using pip $ pip install postorius django-mailman3 mailmanclient —upgrade Do note that this release requires Mailman Core 3.3.5, so you need to upgrade Core before upgrading Postorius. The latest Debian mailman3-web package is 0+20200530-2 which may or may not include https://gitlab.com/mailman/postorius/-/merge_requests/500. What is your Postorius version? if it is less than 1.3.3, FILTER_VHOST doesn't work. Even if it is 1.3.3 or newer there is an issue with FILTER_VHOST. Namely, Postorius doesn't filter lists based directly on web domain. It filters based on the email host associated with the web host. There are two possibilities. If more than one domain has the same web host but different email hosts, no filtering is done. If domains with different web hosts have the same email host, all the lists with that email host will be shown. In short, FILTER_VHOST only works well with Postorius if each web host domain has a unique email host. I'm guessing that in your case, the email host for all three domains is `isf.es` so all lists are shown. > P.S: apart from this conversation, I suggest to include in documentation related to migrations the fact that is important to have 'charset': 'utf8mb4' if MariaDB/MySQL is used, in order not to get migration errors doubt to encodings. We had 75 GB of mbox messages and some of them have had trouble doubt to not setting it before. mailman3 postorius cannot retrieve template at ... (<no authorization>)

Hello, the question is: postgres - mailman3web-postorius_emailtemplate table vs mailman3 - templates table I installed a brand new mailman3 with mailman Core 3.3.3, Api 3.1, Core Python 3.9.2 postgres12 nginx on debian bullseye. I created a template via postorius -> lists -> (testliste01) -> templates -> new template -> [list:member:regular:footer] and [list:member:digest:footer] They are shown in the postgres database mailman3 table templates: id name context uri username password 14 list:member:digest:footer testliste01.mydomain.de http://localhost/postorius/api/templates/list/testliste01.mydomain.de/list:m ember:digest:footer 15 list:member:regular:footer testliste01.mydomain.de http://localhost/postorius/api/templates/list/testliste01.mydomain.de/list:m ember:regular:footer First there where no templates in the /var/lib/mailman3/templates folder, which was empty after installation. Later I created in /var/lib/mailman3/templates theses folders and the files /list/testliste01.mydomain.de/list:member:digest:footer + list:member:regular:footer owned by list:list 644 A testmail went through but instead of the default footer no footer was shown. In the sys.log I found the following error message: Oct 29 11:28:04 myserver mailman3[33015]: Message: 'Cannot retrieve template at http://localhost/postorius/api/templates/list/testliste01.mydomain.de/list:m ember:regular:footer (<no authorization>)' How can I solve this problem? What kind of authorisation is meant? list? restadmin? I read in https://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/config-core.html#configure-templates ... list specific templates invar/templates/lists/LIST-ID/LC/ ... I guess the LC means Language Code. But in the database table templates no LC subdirectory is mentioned (in my case must be de). And I read (dont know where) .... The templates created in Postorius are created in the postorius_emailtemplate table in Mailman's database and referenced via URLs like 'https://example.com/mailman3/api/templates/list/<list-id>/<template-name>'. I.e., they are not stored in the file system. ... That's true.
