Re: mass subscribers disablement!?

After the first time where users were unsubscribed automatically, I added back one at a time all the subscribers who were unsubscribed. Now they have all been unsubscribed again automatically. They are valid working email addresses. The docker has documentation on running management commands, which in this case is “shell” [1] $ docker exec -it mailman-web python3 manage.py shell [1]: https://asynchronous.in/docker-mailman/web/#django-management-commands I know there are plethora of ways to run Django management commands, but this is the easiest one for docker. django-admin will work too, but you have to be in the right working directory for the import path to work and it get weird. I’ve always disliked how Django management commands work unfortunately and in trying to “fix” that with “mailman-web” (which isn’t adopted by container images), i feel I might have re-invented a third option. -- thanks, Abhilash Raj (maxking)

Yes, I'm still seeing the errors. When I send mail to a list with a cute emoji, I see the following in /var/log/mailman3/web/mailman-web.log: ERROR 2021-01-28 10:58:45,708 16923 django.request Internal Server Error: /mailman3/hyperkitty/api/mailman/archive (bunch of python errors omitted) DataError: (1366, u"Incorrect string value: '\\xF0\\x9F\\x98\\x8A\\x0A\\x0A...' for column 'content' at row 1") OK. The issue is with your database it doesn't like '\xF0\x9F\x98\x8A' which is a 4-byte utf-8 encoding for a smiley face emoji. The issue is with MySQL and MariaDB which do not accept 4-byte utf-8 encodings by default. The settings you show above should be sufficient to allow 4-byte utf-8 encodings. I'm not that familiar with how the Debian/Ubuntu package sets things up. Are you sure that /etc/mailman3/mailman-web.py is the settings file used by Django, and if so does it have at the end something like ``` try: from settings_local import * except ImportError: pass ``` and if so is there something there that overrides the DATABASES setting? If all that is OK, you may need to do something like ``` ALTER DATABASE mailman3web CHARACTER SET utf8mb4; ALTER TABLE hyperkitty_email CHARACTER SET utf8mb4; ``` on the database itself. Based on the principle "always blame the user" ;-), I'd start by checking if our version is shadowed by your local version? Anyway, I bet the version number is wrong in base.html and if you fix that everything else will fall in line. If not, check if popper and boostrap are either older versions or perhaps shadowed by older versions somewhere. A word to the wise: grep(1)ing the .min.js.map files is not advised. They're huge and all one line it seems. Better to use an editor's search function.

Mailman notify generating emails for request that aren't visible.

Hi, We’re running mailman 3.3.4 (about to upgrade to 3.3.5 this week). I enabled mailman notify cron a few weeks ago to email out any pending requests for admins. I’ve now got multiple lists that keep emailing out the same outstanding holds but they can’t visible in the GUI. The requests are all duplicates as well.
