The APICountingMiddleware appears to be a debugging or development instrumentation tool. It was added on 2021-02-28, so it's very recent. Somehow your Postorius settings.py is newer than your Postorius middleware.py. I would guess you have checked out or pip'ed a very recent version of Postorius but the example_project is picking up an older version, possibly from the Gentoo package. Why that could happen depends on whether you've set up a venv for the up-to-date Postorius, whether it's active, and so on. Steve

Postorius is not working (throws "Error 500" suddenly after changing POSTORIUS_TEMPLATE_BASE_URL and changing back)

Can this be changed too? It makes it easier for me (and hopefully for others) when communicating changes to the users. At the moment they see the upcoming changes for Postorius first, which always introduces confusion for some of them. Thanks in advance and kind regards Torge

mailman_web/urls.py changes in Postorius 1.3.10

The latest release of Postorius includes these lines in mailman_web/urls.py: # Include alternate Postorius and HyperKitty URLs. path('postorius/', include('postorius.urls')), path('hyperkitty/', include('hyperkitty.urls')), It appears that these paths override the originals (/mailman3 & /archive). I’m using apache and have had to add ProxyPass lines for these new alternate URLs, as /mailman3 and /archive don’t appear to be presented anymore by mailman-web. All the links at the top (Postorious, lists, domains, bans, system info, users, and archives) – all have /postorius or /hyperkitty as the start of their URLs. If I make a copy of that urls.py in /etc/mailman3 and point to it with ROOT_URLCONF – and comment out those alternate lines, the links go back to the way they were (/mailman3 and /archives). Or, as I mentioned, I can add the ProxyPass lines for /postorius and /hyperkitty to apache. One way or another, it doesn’t seem to be behaving as an alternate. Or have I overlooked something? nextcloud as auth provider for postorius

The socialauth I've configured has been for corporate environments, so there was a ground source of truth for IDs that happened to also provide the ground source of truth for email addresses. So everything just worked and there was no debugging to do. :-( First, you need to understand that there's no automatic connection between your socialauth identity and your Mailman identity, and that your email address is not your Mailman identity, although it is linked to your Mailman identity.[1] Now, the traditional identity in email is an email address, and the authentication procedure is to make the user prove they can read the mailbox. That is still necessary, so email addresses are still very closely bound to the identity (Mailman User object). Then there are these questions: 1. Does Nextcloud provide an email address as identifying information? 2. Is it the right address (ie, one of the ones linked to your Postorius login)? 3. Is that address verified in Postorius? If none of those questions help you figure out the problem, you'll need to explain exactly what data Nextcloud is providing to Django socialauth, and how Django socialauth is supposed to connect that to a Postorius/Mailman User object. Steve Footnotes: [1] The identities in Mailman are quite complex. From Mailman's point of view, the identity is in a User object in Mailman core's database. That User is *not* exposed to world, instead, a separate application (Postorius in your case, and for most sites) provides a proxy object that automatically synchronizes with the core User object. Besides the proxy object, Postorius also provides authentication services. Those services are delegated to Django, which handles both traditional password authentication as well as "socialauth". Then the socialauth plugin receives some kind of identifier (not an identity!) from the identity provider.
