The thing is, Mailman Core doesn't know about the existence of any web interface (Postorius & Hyperkitty). I believe that is the reason why the databases are split in the documentation. Someone can decide NOT to install Postorius and Hyperkitty. If one decides to have everything centrally, then I see no harm in using the same database. I have sites using the same database for both, and others that are split. It's cosmetic, I think. Assistance with mailman3

Hi all I'm pretty new to mailman but been trying to install mailman 3 and been running into issues, following the documentation at http://docs.mailman3.org/en/latest/prodsetup.html installed Python 3.6, nginx, ruby-sass then with pip installed whoosh mailman-hyperkitty postorius hyperkitty mailman tried to start mailman core, symlinked master and runner -> /usr/bin/ (otherwise it wouldn't run) mailman core starts but when I hit the api url I get this in the logs File "/usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/mailman-3.2.2-py3.6.egg/mailman/database/transaction.py", line 50, in wrapper rtn = function(*args, **kws) File "/usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/mailman-3.2.2-py3.6.egg/mailman/rest/wsgiapp.py", line 218, in __call__ return super().__call__(environ, start_response) File "/usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/falcon/api.py", line 248, in __call__ responder, params, resource, req.uri_template = self._get_responder(req) File "/usr/local/lib/python3.6/dist-packages/falcon/api.py", line 664, in _get_responder route = self._router_search(path, req=req) TypeError: find() got an unexpected keyword argument 'req' Mar 13 10:54:44 2019 (17273) 127.0.0.1 - - "GET /3.1/ HTTP/1.1" 500 59 and on frontend "A server error occurred. Please contact the administrator." that leads to my gnu not working and throwing keyerrors for postorius. I'm using a clean install of ubuntu 18.04 but have also tried to install on centos 7 with no success. Are there any missing dependencies or steps that I've missed any assistance would be appreciated. Manually recreating all lists is not possible an could only be a test for a single list. The issue you are seeing has only to do with the fact that the footer is non-empty. It is not related to footer content. It is because you are posting other than text/plain messages and the MUAs you are viewing the mail with are confused by the footer being a separate MIME part. See the FAQ article at https://wiki.list.org/x/4030707 for discussion of this issue in MM 2.1 which is also relevant to MM 3. You probably want to ask on the Django lists if you want to do something more extensive than change some of the text in the pages. The easiest way in my experience is to find which of the directories on the path to the CSS mailman-web needs doesn't have at least search (o=x) set for both the 'mailman' user and the webserver user (typically 'www-data' on Debian family OSes), and fix that. Look in the error logs for both mailman-web and the webserver for "couldn't access something.css". That's partly a joke, I would think Debian would get this right. But I've run into that twice on systems for security-paranoid clients. Check it, you don't want to write it from scratch since you do like the default style pretty well. If you get the default styles running, and nevertheless want to do more, Django has search paths for such files that you can add to in 'settings.py'. I recommend adding "/etc/mailman3/whatever" fvo whatever = templates, styles, etc. and putting your substitute files there. Debian won't touch those (except may if you purge the configs?) Of course you'll have to deal with any changes in parent templates, but this is much more maintainable than changing the distribution templates and styles. Not really. In Postorius 1.3.6 there is a `Users` view that will display users and their create date and it is ordered by create date. Then each user's entry has a `Manage` button which goes to a page which among other things, lists their subsubscriptions.
