The original `formataddr((address.display_name, address.original_email))` creates the format `display name <email>` suitable for use in an email header. Thus, if the display name contains non-ascii, it is RFC 2047 encoded. The thing is, Mailman Core doesn't know about the existence of any web interface (Postorius & Hyperkitty). I believe that is the reason why the databases are split in the documentation. Someone can decide NOT to install Postorius and Hyperkitty. If one decides to have everything centrally, then I see no harm in using the same database. I have sites using the same database for both, and others that are split. It's cosmetic, I think. Assistance with mailman3

Hello! I am using mailman3 (version 3.3.8) and it mostly works fine, but sometimes (usually several times every day) the error below appears. Any suggestions for what could be done about this? Should it be considered a bug in Django, so not a mailman3 problem, or does it indicate something wrong with mailman3 itself? Manually recreating all lists is not possible an could only be a test for a single list. The issue you are seeing has only to do with the fact that the footer is non-empty. It is not related to footer content. It is because you are posting other than text/plain messages and the MUAs you are viewing the mail with are confused by the footer being a separate MIME part. See the FAQ article at https://wiki.list.org/x/4030707 for discussion of this issue in MM 2.1 which is also relevant to MM 3. You probably want to ask on the Django lists if you want to do something more extensive than change some of the text in the pages. The easiest way in my experience is to find which of the directories on the path to the CSS mailman-web needs doesn't have at least search (o=x) set for both the 'mailman' user and the webserver user (typically 'www-data' on Debian family OSes), and fix that. Look in the error logs for both mailman-web and the webserver for "couldn't access something.css". That's partly a joke, I would think Debian would get this right. But I've run into that twice on systems for security-paranoid clients. Check it, you don't want to write it from scratch since you do like the default style pretty well. If you get the default styles running, and nevertheless want to do more, Django has search paths for such files that you can add to in 'settings.py'. I recommend adding "/etc/mailman3/whatever" fvo whatever = templates, styles, etc. and putting your substitute files there. Debian won't touch those (except may if you purge the configs?) Of course you'll have to deal with any changes in parent templates, but this is much more maintainable than changing the distribution templates and styles.
