Yes, you can save a script in the bin/ directory in your venv and run it with `mailman shell -r`. The request.id is constant for that request object. The request object is fixed for a specific held message request. Thanks; There has never been a 'Mailman' user. I do have a www-data user (all Apache2 data' and there is a 'list' user. I may have run the import fuction as root, but I then used chown() to set the directory tree /var/lib/mailman3/* to user 'list'. So I upgraded Debian 10 to Debian 11. This also upgraded Apache2 I assume, but I kept the original (single) config file. I then installed the whole Mailman3 package with 'apt'. I may also have installed additional missing bits afterwards, as I think it was not complete. I initially tried to use MariaDB but the installation failed completly because it never asked for the MariaDB root password, and as a result of that everyting else failed too. Then I un-installed 5 times, and then I finally went for the 'default' database system. I then edited the file with the recommended settings for Mailman3: Alias /mailman3/favicon.ico /var/lib/mailman3/web/static/postorius/img/favicon.ico Alias /mailman3/static /var/lib/mailman3/web/static <Directory "/var/lib/mailman3/web/static"> Require all granted </Directory> <IfModule mod_proxy_uwsgi.c> ProxyPass /mailman3/favicon.ico ! ProxyPass /mailman3/static ! ProxyPass /mailman3 unix:/run/mailman3-web/uwsgi.sock|uwsgi://localhost/ </IfModule> So clearly Apache2 manages to access the data supplied by Postorius because it sees the lists (at least the empty ones). -What user should the whole system running under: 'list'? of 'www-data'? - Is there anything else I should tell Apache2? Now I tried to use "django-admin createsuperuser". This also fails because of this error: ImportError: cannot import name 'force_text' from 'django.utils.encoding' (/usr/local/lib/python3.9/dist-packages/django/utils/encoding.py) And I cannot find where this 'force_text' is called from. It must be removed as it is too old.

Each of which, have their own configs and Mailman does not wrap each of their configs in it's own, a design decision made by the initial authors which I agree with. Basically, the message can't be flattened by its as_string() method because of unicode issues. This can occur because of non-ascii characters is the message headers or in body parts explicitly or implicitly declared as ascii. But if enough people use it, patterns will show up, and we'll get into a "proof of waste" race with the spammers as we try to come up with logic puzzles people can solve but spammers' ML can't. I don't think it really addresses the issue that attackers can solve it easily if they want to, and will eventually automate that solution, although it does address the issue of accessibility (mostly -- I am not an expert but I wouldn't be surprised if long-time screen reader users are relatively poor spellers!) And it's not a satisfactory solution for a lot of our users. We can't safely add enabling functions to Mailman, because I'm sure there are a dozen Spamming as a Service (SpAAS) groups out there with Mailman 3 clone repos. New Mailman 3 installation issues

I have been trying to get a mailman 3 installation working for longer than I'd like to admit. Core appears to be installed and working as desired but Postorius (and hyperkitty, but I haven't even started troubleshooting it while trying to get the web interface working) is only loading the main page with no lists shown and all remaining links return a server error (specific text is: "Server error An error occurred while processing your request." with the error text highlighted). I think I followed all of the installation instructions, including the updated pythonpath line in the systemd module, but it's entirely possible that there is an error somewhere along the way. I have had to make two minor tweaks, the /static/ location was moved from /opt/mailman/web/static to /var/www/mailman/ (owner mailman:nginx) as nginx was giving permissions errors (even if it owned the files or with the mod set to 777) with the default location and wouldn't load the css, and installed postgres directly from their repo as the method in the guide doesn't create the user. Aside from that everything should be exactly as laid out in the installation guide. The logs are showing everything running and the DB logs show all the queries going through successfully, there are no errors in the web logs corresponding with the errors being served on the site aside an entry for a 500 in the access logs [18/May/2021:12:13:01] "GET /archives/ HTTP/1.1" 500 1102 "http://mailman3/mailman3/lists/" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/89.0.4389.91 Safari/537.36" "-" when I took a look in the DB tables many of them appear to be empty, I have a few lists in core that were imported from 2.1 but no new lists created. The closest thing I can find for now is advice for something that, while possibly being technologically unrelated, includes the idea of "warmup requests", which makes me think of simply setting up some sort of script to periodically load a page on the Mailman 3 web application in order to keep it more available for visitors (https://stackoverflow.com/a/57056170). That's certainly a possibility and may be a solution.
