Mailman 3 has more runner processes than Mailman 2.1 and they are larger. That is the difference in what you are seeing, but in neither case does this indicate an issue. Much if the memory footprint you see is idle memory that is only used because no other process needs it. The held message is gone. The reason is that your configuration for mailman.config.config.MESSAGE_DIR is apparently '/var/tmp/mailman/messages' and something has removed stuff in it behind your back. It appears you either have explicitly or by default layout: local in your mailman.cfg. See <https://gitlab.com/mailman/mailman/-/blob/master/src/mailman/config/mailman…>. The value of layout determines which paths.* section is used. When you set a template in Postorius, the template is stored in the database and an entry is made in Mailman core's template table with a uri to the Postorius API to get the template. As long as this entry is there, that's the template you get. I can't really fault parseaddr() here because the only time it produces an unexpected result is when the CRLF line folding occurs in the middle of a quoted string which is clearly non-compliant. The first thing it does is for all lists known to HyperKitty, it gets the list attributes "display_name", "description", "subject_prefix", "archive_policy", "created_at" and "list_id" from Mailman core and updates the list properties in Hyperkitty. Then it gets every message sender known to Hyperkitty for which HK's sender.mailman_id is null, and, 1000 senders at a time, it tries to get and set the core user_id for the address to the sender's mailman_id. What happens when you import old archives, you archive a lot of posts with senders that are no longer list members and are not known to core, and every time sync_mailman runs, it tries again to get those core user_ids. The second step could also find a newly registered core user, but is less important. Whether it is bad is a matter of opinion. At worst, it is a waste of some processing time, and at best it will pick up new users if there are any. It is involved with every Postorius request, most of which seem to have no issues. It is only this one piece mailmancore/API ->database that seems to have an issue and only with this one DELETE FROM pendedkeyvalue WHERE pendedkeyvalue.id = XXX query. For a long time I used Graham Dumpleton's mod_wsgi with Apache for wsgi support, mostly for MoinMoin. I have no experience with uwsgi. When I set up MM 3 on lists.mailman3.org, the server was already using nginx so I arbitrarily chose gunicorn for that. On mail.python.org I started using mod_wsgi, but at one point there was an issue due apparently to an SSL library mismatch following an upgrade, but before the cause was recognized, I switched to gunicorn to get things up. On a third server I manage, I use mod_wsgi for MoinMoin which is Python 2.7. I found setting up both Python 2.7 and Python 3 versions of mod_wsgi on the same server to be daunting, so I went with gunicorn for Mailman 3 on that server too. You need to get the template from Postorius. Maybe something like http://localhost/postorius/api/templates/list/list.example.com/list:user:no… Where http://localhost/postorius/ is the URL you use to access Postorius, maybe mailman3 instead of postorius.
