This is one thing I am confused about. The explanations in the settings about No Munging, etc. are not completely clear.
MY GOAL What I want to make sure, since this is a discussion list, is that most messages go to the mailing list, not to individuals. I plan to put something in one of the templates to remind people that a reply goes to the discussion list. If they do not want to send it to everyone, they should send to the original poster.
I understand there are plusses and minuses but I am not sure I understand the explanation given. If it IS preferable to use NO MUNGING, how do I make sure that this is easy to accomplish?
I can put something in the footer of every message to remind people, but first I need confirmation of what I should choose in this section. Thanks in advance.

This is something which is specific to Emails. There is a header called "Reply-To" which is used by email clients to send replies. That is the "default" address a reply will go to when you hit "reply button" in you email client.
The setting you are talking about can alter the "Reply-To" header in the emails, for whatever reason they might have to do so. Ideally, you don't want to change the settings since it can break things for some of your users who use emails.

Ok, so testing this, I left it as no munging and “reply to@ automatically became the list, which is what I want. The list settings are different for THIS list I guess since your name appears when I hit Reply, but I want it to go to the list so others can benefit and therefore I use REPLY TO ALL.
I wonder what setting in this list that was?
By the way, I see that my email address in my messages in my list is fully visible. If I want to make it hard for email harvesters, what setting do I use?
Thank you again, Abilash Raj.

You can set the list to be anonymous.
Postorius Settings -> Alter Messages -> Anonymous list = Yes
