Documentation for transferiering a list between mm3 and mm3
Hi,
I didn't find any documentation on how to export list data from mm3 and import it into another mm3 instance. Have I missed something, or is it yet nonexistant?
Best greetings,
Johannes

Hi Johannes,
if you have setup Postorius:
Users -> Members -> "CSV Export"
Setup new list, possibly edit your csv and run
mailman members --add <filename> list-address
Not ideal, but should get you on your way, hopefully.
Best regards Peter

If you are referring to List Settings, then I don't think you can. As Peter pointed out, you can export/import your list roster but I don't believe that includes moderators/owners which is problematic. If you wanted to migrate archives, then you can download an entire archive via Hyperkitty which is exported in mbox format. You can then import that mbox file into your new Mailman 3 list.

Brian is correct. Essentially, you would need to run database queries to get all the relevant data from the database and then add it to the database of the new instance. A tool could be created to do the export and import, but it doesn't currently exist unless some user has developed one and not reported it.

Would it be unreasonable to do a database dump on the old instance and a restore on the new one?

The question is transferring a list
. I took that to mean transferring
one of multiple lists to another installation which may also have other
lists.

Yes, indeed, that was the question. Thank you for the answers!
