You should use "$@"
to preserver arguments.
For examples:
$ sh -c 'for v in $@; do echo "[$v]"; done' sh a 'b *' 'c d'
...
$ sh -c 'for v in "$@"; do echo "[$v]"; done' sh a 'b *' 'c d'
...
