Are you running in VM or dockerized process?

For VM:
Did you tune your kernel settings? I've increased my TCP & number-of-files/processes, do not have deferred issues - 300 lists, 500k daily email volume, lists over 5k recipients.

Other tuning

• django threads
• recipients chunk size for MTA
• RDS DB connection-timeout
