Gmail's DSN is so badly worded it's not clear to me *what* it's supposed to mean.
I wonder if enabling ARC might not help with getting things through to Gmail. Google was very supportive of the ARC effort.
You need to apply DMARC mitigations to this mail.
I agree this is the most straightforward approach.
