I'm on Debian 11, trying to troubleshoot an installation of Mailman 3.3.3 that was done by someone else.
It seems that some process is rotating the mailman.log file at midnight, and the newly-created mailman.log is being owned by user 'list'.
Probably 'logrotate' --- check /etc/logrotate.d/mailman3 --- it contains 'create 640 list list'
Change the first 'list' to the user name, the second the group name you want to use for the logs.
logrotate renames logs, creates a new (empty) one, and compresses the older ones; and deletes the oldest ones.
