So that probably answers that then. Hmm, I wonder about the best way to proceed. The next stable release of Debian will have something that calls itself 4.0-2 and looks like it is fixed there:

It seems that this package version can be downloaded and installed in Debian stable (bullseye):
https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/all/python3-flufl.bounce/downloadIt isn't recommended to mix packages from different releases of course, but the changes seem quite minimal and it fixes the problem for me.
