[MM3-users] Understanding of members, accounts

Hi *,

meanwhile we have subscribed a few addresses by the method of mass subscription. As these have to be private lists, users will have to provide a password to get access to the archives.

I haven't found a way to provide, as admin, passwords to users. So I assumed users should go to "login", "lost password" and thus set their own. Alas, their e-mail addresses are not found in any list.

Is the solution to "sign up", using one's very e-mail address already in the system?

I would like to understand why there is a difference between being (only) a subscribed member and a member having an account - or, what might be the advantage of being a member without an account?
